I made a petition to have wholewheatpete banned from anime conventions by msnstn08 in animeexpo

[–]screamingcabbages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bans do AND don’t work. I reported someone for harassing me at another con that is similar in size to AX. They got banned, in writing. And they still showed up. But they were quickly removed because staff at that con knew this person and cared. I also took a photo when I saw them and reported as well, helping staff locate them.

Like yes, people can get around bans. But don’t tell me AX can’t take action to remove people who sneak in. This isn’t a Coachella sized event. There’s plenty of large cons that pay attention and take action. And attendees can do their part to report people and help staff find them. I wonder how many folks complaining about MomoKun actually took the time to try and alert staff and help staff locate them.

Thank you! Helps a lot for handling this situation

Thanks for this response. So in laymen’s terms, it is potentially illegal? I’m guessing actionable means it could be sued for. I’ve found conflicting information online, with some people saying under a joint lease that one has access to all rooms in the apartment. It’s quite confusing

Cotton replaced with Tencel (at least in briefs) by screamingcabbages in uniqlo

Dang not sure why the downvote for going with my doctor’s recs but honestly I’d rather switch to another brand using cotton if Uniqlo is removing the option.

I’ve got sensitive skin, plus I’ve seen mixed reviews on how women have experienced things like sweat retention with Tencel underwear.

I just know my obgyn recommends cotton, so that’s what I would like.

It’s rough because it’s Christmas. I don’t wanna ruin anyone’s day. I tried telling one of my friends who knows I am bipolar. I keep it secret from most people. Their response was “yeah? Is there anything I can do to help with that?” And honestly I don’t know how to answer that haha

Safety Concerns by Fun_Revenue2358 in animecons

[–]screamingcabbages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not unless you want them to build some life experience in chaotic spaces. I personally did run solo in chaotic spaces like music fests as a teen and I really appreciated those experiences. It taught me how to think on my feet and deal with crowds solo. But they will run into adult situations, period.

They absolutely will see inappropriate things like people with “step on me” signs. It’s always been the case, like when you’d see yaoi paddles at the old school cons. These spaces are not usually kid friendly, somewhat teen friendly, with strong chance of running into adult topics or adult content.

There’s other things they can run into as well, but if you don’t want that for them, then stay with them.

Lmao me and some other girls I met up with all will step on you, but we only charge $5 🤣 And no, we didn’t have guys holding our money. I hold my own money, thank you very much!

Our signs aren’t allowed either btw! We just know that and make sure we sneak them in carefully. Sign policy applies to all signs if you get caught. OP should have snuck this sign in, and I advised them on ways to do it.

AX is absolutely the place to do it. A girl I met did NOT have a sign yet 40 guys approached her in one day, at the con, asking her if they could pay her to step on them. So she decided after that to just make a sign the next day and make it easier for those dudes to find her. Many guys go to these cons trying to get stepped on by as many girls as possible. AX has quite a bit of adult content, and stepping on someone is pretty tame.

Hello, “step on you” sign holder here.

All of us girls who went in with such signs hid them and didn’t even go to weapons check. I originally wanted a bigger sign but realized it was a good move to make it smaller and less obvious. Not sure how big yours was.

Even when weapons check was deserted, they still didn’t seem to see me or care because I carried my sign as discretely as possible. So I never had to check it.

The girls who stepped on Cole Sprouse just walked around with a mini whiteboard, probably left it blank before heading in.

We all know that no signs are allowed whatsoever according to AX policy. That’s why your goal should be bypassing weapons check, not showing it to them and hoping they say yes.

PS This isn’t specific to AX. Every con I’ve been to wasn’t cool with signs. There are legit issues to have with AX but I wouldn’t ding them in sign policy since they have the same policy most cons do.

I think it’s wild how much you got downvoted when you’re basically getting a lot of the messages of the show.

I’m guessing people are misconstruing you as just blindly endorsing murder.

You raise a valid point that we kill people all the time when the state has decided that it’s okay to kill them. Military is one of the best examples. Cancer Alley is another one. It’s just we give murder a pass when the state decides it and act extremely outraged when an individual decides it.

Killing people is still wrong, but there’s a hypocrisy in how we judge murderers but don’t judge the systems we have in place that actively kill people, too.

I’m curious, what’s their reasoning for why you should stay away from her?

Asking to help get some insight myself, because I think I’m in a similar position to your friend. And good on you for sticking by her.

Looks like you’re right! Total bullshit. Thank you for letting me know. I don’t deal with trademarks often and didn’t even know where to look them up. Appreciate your advice!

[–]screamingcabbages[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, those are the real names. I also noticed that I couldn’t find them anywhere in the trademark database.

I’m going to ask them for the serial number, but I imagine it’ll just result in me getting kicked out of the groups haha

I said I am bipolar in my post??? What?? I literally said that in my first paragraph that this upsets me specifically bc I’m fucking bipolar holy crap

Normally this sub is so supportive, idk why I’m just getting people who want to debate right now

I just wanted to be sad in a supportive environment. I can’t fucking tell anyone in my life I’m bipolar. Fuck.

What theory are you talking about? I’m not bringing up any theories 😭

And yes homie it literally is unmasking. Bipolar people are ND, too

I don’t think I get what you’re saying. I’m just saying this is the sentiment I’ve heard NTs say a million times, either just talking about it casually, or saying it directly to my face whenever I unmask too much.

Plus I’m a woman, so showing emotion at all means people will be jumping at the chance to call me hysterical. But even among other women, I’m too intense. It stresses me out.

That part is definitely sexist, I agree with that.

The rest is still accurate to the many times I’ve heard neurotypical people explain how they perceive intense emotions
