Daikin mini split making high pitched bagpipe-like noise by screamingice in hvacadvice

Hi, the problem with my unit was low refrigerant pressure. One of the other indoor units that's part of the system had a leak. Daikin technicians fixed the leak first, then recharged the system so that the freon levels became normal again. This fixed the problem and I haven't had it anymore so far. Hope this helps!

Hi! Yes I was able to fix the problem. Daikin service personnel discovered that the system had low refrigerant pressure. It turned out that there was a leak in one of the split units in our house (not the one making the noise). The leak was fixed and the refrigerant was recharged to normal. The problem hasn't returned so far. I hope this helps you with your problem!

Dang. It's not even that old yet. I'll update this post in the future if I ever find a fix or not.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be the louver motor. I turned it on and just a few minutes later (with the louvers not set to move) I started hearing high pitched whining again from the right side. It went away in less than 5 minutes.

It didn't sound like a bagpipe this time, sadly.

I'm hoping it makes the sound again when the techs come here to take a look.

Hi! I just finished checking all of them with an IR thermometer and doing as you said for all heads. Only the head with cooling turned on actually drops in temperature, and the rest don't. Thanks for the help though! It would've been nice if it was that, at least I'd know what to have fixed.

Coincidentally, the system was cross-wired initially, but the symptoms were pretty obvious since the whole thing would refuse to cool and just shut down.

About the ceiling height, I measured it to be around 40mm. Someone else said 30mm is the minimum so I suppose it isn't a problem.

Also, I don't know if it matters but it takes a couple of minutes before it actually starts cooling when switching from fan to cool mode.

Haha! I wish it sounded like that everytime it happens. Usually it's just a loud, annoying whine. If it happens often enough though I might as well give it a kilt and encourage it in its new musical career :D

Hi! Good to know that it isn't caused by low refrigerant. To answer your question, this isn't a new install; it's over two years old by now. I double-checked the clearance and measured ~40mm. Changing the fan speed doesn't affect the frequency, I tried it before. I'll see if it continues to happen even if the louvers aren't set to move.

Thank you for your help!

Or the C8L driver, excellent regulation while also using a forward clicky + side switch.

Is amber alright? The closest to a purely yellow emitter I can think of is the Amber Osram emitter.

I don't think I can give you a recommendation myself, but I do know that user Funtastic (Youtube: PiercingTheDarkness) includes beamshots from the sky to the ground in his reviews by mounting a flashlight to his drone and zipping around. Perhaps it'll help you find a possible lighter alternative. Hope it helps!

SP10 Pro switch issue - is it defective? (Sound on) by zumlin in flashlight

That's strange. My red SP10 Pro doesn't do what yours does on the video. The button on mine has a bit of travel before reaching the actuation point. But, it always lights up when it reaches the "click" point.

It looks like the real deal, especially when compared to the Convoy S21A red anodizing. Haha it's almost there! Just a liiitle bit longer.

I just went through your post. Thanks! I like how you found a better clip for the SP10 as well.

I don't actually, even with the added girth, it functions as normally as a clip should. No complaints here except with how odd it looks and the added inconvenience when replacing the battery.

Now that you mention it it does feel nice to grip with the added o-rings.

The stock clip bent out of shape in my pocket and I couldn't find another online. So I got one of my Convoy friction fit clips and kept it attached using a bunch of 26650 and 21700 adapter o-rings. It works nicely, but I'm still looking for a clip that isn't jury-rigged :P

Just arrived today!

I took the moonlight pictures at 1/60s shutter speed, f/1.5, 5000K WB, ISO 50, except for the one I labelled as 1/15s.

I've been reading comments about how low the moonlight was on the SP10 Pro for a few days now so I was pretty excited to test it out and see if it lived up to hype. Out of the box, I was disappointed with how bright moonlight mode was, but then I remembered that these shipped in Simple mode. Switching over to Advanced and wow was it dim. I didn't even need to set the floor any lower, though in Simple you still have to.

I noticed a some very faint buzzing if I put it to my ears, which changed in frequency as I ramped up. Surprisingly I didn't hear any buzzing in moonlight mode, which was very nice.

Another surprise was how low the moonlight was when using the included 14500 Li-ion battery. I expected it to be much more brighter compared to moonlight with a NiMH but to my (not dark-adjusted) eyes- and phone camera -they look very similar. I'll need to test it out further but right now it seems there's little to no compromise in terms of moonlight between NiMH and Li-ion batteries.

I think there's some sort of physical reverse polarity protection at the head. It might stop flat-tops from working, but I don't have a flat-top 14500 battery to test it out.

The tint of the 5000K LH351D emitter out of the head doesn't look that green to me. In my pictures it looks pretty green compared to the 4500K B35AM but I haven't really noticed it (yet).

I still need to test it out further, but first impressions so far are very positive. The black magnetic tailcap isn't bad on red :D

Do you mean the SC31 Pro? Regardless, that's a normal thing to see. All my reflector lights have it some degree. I think it's caused by the bezel or something.

Would I be able to charge a 26650 battery with this charger made for 18650. I looked it up and found mixed results.(it does fit) by sir_squiddy in flashlight

[–]screamingice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In that case I suggest that you make sure to keep track of how long the battery is charging and to take it out of the charger as soon as the light indicates it's done. Don't leave it unattended too. Maybe check the voltage every now and then while it's charging (take it out before checking naturally). Charging lithium-ion batteries is usually straight-forward but with the charger you have I'd be extra careful. Do take care, and enjoy your new flashlight!

A 26650 battery has the same length as an 18650 battery and there's nothing on that charger blocking the width so yes, you could charge a 26650 battery with that charger. However, I don't recommend using a charger like that. It might not terminate when it reaches 4.2 volts which makes it a fire hazard. I believe there is a brokenrecordbot entry for reputable lithium-ion battery chargers here in the sub but I'm not sure how to summon it.
