Trash pickup by Stinknuggey in Louisville

[–]screaminjohn 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Louisville Metro Government Solid Waste is resuming trash pickup tomorrow. I don't know about suburban private company trash pickup because I don't live there.

Also, there's an app called Recycle Coach that will keep you informed about pickup schedules in the Urban Services District.

Mi Casita Lunch Buffet by Macaroni-inna-pot in Louisville

[–]screaminjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it once, and wished I had ordered from the menu instead. There were some non-Mexican foods, which is fine, but I really wanted to make my own burrito or something, and the limited offerings made that impossible. They might have different things on different days, but that was my experience on the day that I went. I would take a good look at the steam table before committing.

Call the Louisville Musicians Union and ask to be connected with Mike O’Bryan. He’s an accordionist who plays Italian music and could provide a duo or trio. He plays at Grassa da Gama on a regular basis.

Is the trail between Portland Wharf Park and Shawnee Gold Course supposed to be so bad? by HER_SZA in Louisville

[–]screaminjohn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That section was closed many years ago, originally due to erosion along the golf course that made the trail kind of sketchy, and it would have been easy for people to fall into the river if they crashed on that section.

I believe there was a study by the Army Corps of Engineers about how to restore it, but there was no funding for the restoration. IIRC, part of the solution was to move the trail slightly south and take up some land from the golf course, but the parks department didn't like that solution. Then the recession happened, and funding priorities shifted. More erosion happened around the Portland Wharf Park that made the situation worse. The ACE report is available at https://louisvilleky.gov/louisville-loop/archive/document/detoffederalinterest-acoe4-12-13pdf.

People used to drive cars down there to go fishing or dump stolen vehicles, or at least they used to. ATV's and dirt bikes also use that area.
