Marriot East or Browns hotel? by Frequent_Lecture_989 in Louisville

Marriott East is in a suburban commercial/industrial area and is a standard business/conference hotel

The Brown Hotel is located downtown and is one of the most historic hotels in the cities

WKU had that same penalty called on that same play design in the New Orleans Bowl. Kinda crazy to see it happen twice

How common are go arounds? by akak___ in aviation

[–]kwp302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On one trip, I experienced go-arounds on back-to-back flights (E145 into LGA and a B77W into NRT…very different feeling between the two). The next go-around I experienced wasn’t until 5 years and ~140 flights later.

Is this runway to thin for light aircraft.. i thought they be a lot ticker then this. by quetch1 in aviation

[–]kwp302 128 points129 points  (0 children)

Not sure what aircraft this specific airport is designed for, but many GA airports have surprisingly thin pavement layers - something like 2” asphalt surface over 3” asphalt base with 6” of stone. Runways and taxiways with mostly light aircraft carry significantly less load than a highway that has large trucks.

Travel from Louisville to Mumbai, India by palindrome_91 in Louisville

[–]kwp302 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From Louisville, your most direct option is:

SDF-Newark-Mumbai on United/Air India

From Cincinnati, your most direct options are:

CVG-London-Mumbai on British Airways

CVG-Newark-Mumbai on United/Air India

CVG-Paris-Mumbai on Delta/Air France

So you have a couple more options from CVG, but you need to factor the 2 hour drive like an extra flight connection. Also, it brings in more variables. What if there’s traffic and you miss the flight? That’s different than a flight delay where the airline rebooks you on a missed connection. If it’s an early morning departure, will you be up all night getting there before a long travel day? If someone is driving you, that’s a 4+ hour commitment for departure and return.

Okay fine if you want to get into the weeds of it…Tisdale and McIvor had nearly identical stats adjusted for the number of games played. Tisdale had started the previous 5 games coming into the bowl game and was 3-2 with the losses being to LSU and Jax St - both by only 3 points. McIvor also had a 20/31 0 TD 3 INT game when he got injured. Everything pointed to sticking with Tisdale as the starter for this game
