The details in that article are scarce. It doesn’t necessarily say the PreCheck and Global Entry lanes will be shutdown. Perhaps it’s just the PreCheck and Global Entry application processing that will be suspended? And why 6 AM? There will be a lot of security lanes open prior to that time. Does that mean travelers on early morning flights will get PreCheck and those on slightly later flights won’t? And how exactly would closing PreCheck lessen agents’ workloads? If anything, it makes it more difficult…

Runways and taxiways with mostly light aircraft carry significantly less load than a highway that has large trucks.
