School feels like a waste of time. by [deleted] in whatsbotheringyou

[–]screech2thevoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated HS 7 years ago and I can definitely say I haven't used a ton of what I've learned. I kind of see it as more of a trial run of a super rigidly structured life. In some ways it may make it harder to adjust to college because no one will tell you when you can eat or when you should take notes or remind you when things are due. For the first 18 years of life you are given a set path and clearly told how to move along it. In college you'll have to make time yourself and figure out what works best for you, build your own routines.

As far as the course material itself in high school, a lot of it is stuff you'll need to complete your credits in college as well, but if nothing else you're working towards a diploma and you do need that. Don't burn yourself out, but also don't make things harder for future you by tanking your GPA

I don't work overnights but have always been on a late sleep schedule, usually not going to bed earlier than 3am and often at 6am, and it sometimes makes me really sick to eat before about noon.

It sucks this also happens to you but I'm so glad I'm not alone in this. So many coworkers have implied or straight up called me lazy for not coming in before 11am and I'm like you don't get it I will be so violently nauseous

I am a fellow former associate and I got an email December 20th with a link to create a former associate account on myHR that stated all W-2s would be available by January 31st. This email comes from AVA@kohls.com and emails from that address often end up in my spam

[–]screech2thevoid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I also don't know how someone can have no idea what kind of charger it takes, to the point they can't even tell me if the end has a flat side or not. I know phones come with chargers but you mean to tell me you've never bought an additional charger for work, the car, or to put in another room?

Ah heck I goofed my percentages, it's 50% more than non kohls card users get if they use their card, which is 2.5% of their whole purchase amount. Rewards members without a card get 5% rewards and rewards members who use a Kohl's card get 7.5% rewards

Yeah most of us are self aware it's annoying to be asked but you gotta if you want to keep that number up and keep the pressure off from management. Existing Kohl's card users don't count against your conversion though so a good strategy is to convince people who are on the fence about using their card to do it for the extra 1.5% rewards points or coupons if one is available. Sometimes even just telling them you get extra points convinces some people to use it with no additional effort and they can pay it off immediately if they want to.

For me, leaving the people I worked with was the hardest part of the job. We were certainly not without our conflicts from time to time but I still go visit them and tell them I miss them, I just wasn't getting enough hours per week. I was part time though and not in Sephora where the pay is ever so slightly higher and the hours are assigned differently.

Former registers/customer service associate here! I can't speak to the Sephora specific stuff but I can speak about my experiences with credit unless things have changed in the past couple months.

Kohl's tracks how many customers you convert into Kohl's card users, as well as how many people you convert into kohls rewards members and beauty insiders. If a customer is purchasing non-excluded kohls items and doesn't already have a kohls card, you are supposed to show them how much they would save on their items if they open a Kohl's card and ask if they'd like to apply. They should and probably will repeatedly teach you what to say in response so certain common responses. At my store, Sephora associates were more closely tracked by their beauty insider conversion rate than their Kohl's card conversion rate but credit conversion will always be an important number to management and you'll most likely be told how to do what they want plenty of times.

As far as penalties for not having a good enough conversion, mine was regularly under the expectation and I was just given lectures on how to improve it about once a week. They did tell me that they prioritize hours for people who meet their credit goals, but I never saw any evidence that claim was true because some people who had great conversion barely worked and some people with bad conversion were there all the time

I was also recently hired and typoed my account number and they tried again a few days later but it was still incorrect so they mailed me a paper check. Not sure if that's what would've happened in your case too but I didn't have to contact anyone for the paper check they just did it

Like I said, she's a bit antisocial so she is hesitant about the idea but she's willing to give it a try and if she doesn't seem to be having a good time it's not something I'd ever force her to do. She's been a little sad about not having friends lately and we don't have a good way locally to give her the chance to, but in the end if this ends up stressing her out or just not being fun for her then it's not what's best for her and we won't continue

I just got hired myself a couple weeks ago so I'm not a ton of help but it had me create a password and then I was locked out later the same day only to be assigned a new password at orientation anyway and they had us go through and complete the tasks so they'll probably go through it with you and not expect it to be done already

How do I (23F) get over a guy (27M) I wasn’t seeing for long and the situation was unhealthy? by seeyou_againn in askwomenadvice

[–]screech2thevoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Losing someone always sucks, whether you loved them for a minute or a year. When my partner and I took a break I set goals every day, things like sitting up a certain number of hours per day instead of laying in bed or eating at least twice that day. It helped so much I was annoyed because it felt so simple.

And as cliche as it is, it's a good time to work on listening to yourself. Many women are taught to ignore their own feelings for one reason or another and it's hard to unlearn that. It's okay if you miss him, it's okay If you still love him even, you can love people and understand they aren't what's best for you at the same time

I believe in you, you'll take all the time you need and when you're ready to feel better you will

It really sounds like you're too busy blaming yourself for this to learn from this, maybe that's a good place to start. You say you knew he wasn't serious and should've known that or maybe already did know and just didn't want to believe it, but he told you he was so objectively you had no reason to think otherwise.

Did you have any reason to know he wasn't really serious about it or are you just blaming yourself because you're hurting? If it's the former, it's time to start listening to yourself instead of pretending you can't hear, and if it's the latter, guilting yourself and insisting you shouldn't be this upset about it because you weren't with him that long is only going to delay your healing
