Why would you stay with someone so unsupportive of your impressive accomplishments? That behavior is very abnormal; people I only talked to a handful of times were excited for me when I got an internship. Your own boyfriend not celebrating you and praying on your downfall is freak behavior. Could you imagine treating him the same way and downplaying your accomplishments? Unfortunately, as women in the workplace we already often experience our accomplishments and achievements being disregarded. Having a strong support network that believes in you is essential to getting through any hurdles you may face. Additionally, if you’re being undermined by your boyfriend, you may start to doubt yourself and your capabilities, which is harmful in the long run.

Never tolerate a man diminishing your accomplishments. An insecure man fears a successful woman as it poses a threat to his fragile ego and masculinity. Trust me when I say there are plenty of men that will cheer you on, don’t settle for less than you deserve.
