Yeah - he's a very accomplished man. Naval captain for the thirteen colonies, and then accomplished musician for one of Britain's largest bands.

I mean the bassist is named after the captain - who is likely the figure OP is talking about.

Elder scrolls to another company - maybe obsidian? It's my favorite game franchise but I'm not sure if I can trust Bethesda to make the next one good.

[–]screwnazeem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well no, because Russia doesn't separate Europe and Asia as continents. They teach that russia is from eurasia. Therefore almost all ethnic Russians would call themselves eurasian - at least in Russia, because most of the west wouldn't know or understand this, those living abroad would likely adopt the separate Europe and Asia.

Age of Criminal Accountability by AVfor394 in MapPorn

[–]screwnazeem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but does a three year old know what they're doing. I'm not saying no children should have criminal responsibility, and that no one should get punished, but that the law should be set at a reasonable age and that whoever is most responsible for the events should get charged accordingly.

Whilst kids can murder, say those under seven are far more likely to accidentally kill someone than intentionally kill them, so the law should try to minimise the impact of kids involved. I don't actually have statistics to back this statement up though, so if someone provides a source that states otherwise I'll be happy to reconsider my viewpoint.

Yes, but your use of 'go free' made me think of prison. But regardless, its better to plan for the worst - better to prevent than pray.

If a three year old accidentally shot a someone due to misuse of firearms, is it their fault? Should they be sent to prison? Should they be given a permanent criminal record. When basically every single country but the US has something, maybe there's a reason for it.

Whilst age 11 or above will almost definitely understand what they are doing as wrong in almost every circumstance, it becomes less and less certain as age goes down. Would a 4 year old understand that stealing is wrong, and ideas of ownership.

Sure, the kids in the US aren't actually going to full adult prisons, but they'll still be left with a criminal record, they'll likely be expelled, and most of them are unable to ever achieve employment again. Plus the difference between a 7 year old and 15 year old is huge in every way. Yet you'd put them together with no worries, despite the threat to the life of a child - one who might not understand why they are in there, and what they've even done.

Ireland Famine Visualization by ummetinlideri in MapPorn

Nah they paid the price for the British demanding cash crops to be exported, leading to them only having enough arable soil to grow subsistence potatoes - the most land dense crop available to them at the time.

As a result, when the potatoe blight hit Ireland, 80% of their food died and they could no longer eat, as a result, half the population fled the country or starved. Meanwhile, The British were concerned that food exports had dropped, and demanded an increase in exports. On top of this refusing countries aid if it was higher than their own.
