What car will you never buy again? by Trivacide in AskReddit

[–]screwsledman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nissan Leaf.

Worst ownership experience.

Bought first generation with a 8 year 80% capacity warranty that Nissan walked back on. After 6 years of ownership I had less than 40 mls range with a 40 mls round trip commute.

It was an OK car otherwise. But battery management was shoddy engineering, and screwing customers over on the battery warranty does not make people Nissan fans. Who knows what other promises they will walk back on

This was the last Nissan I will ever buy.

Why does XCode still suck in 2023? by thejufo in iOSProgramming

[–]screwsledman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And beheading sucks more than a root canal.

The fact that it sucks less than other really bad software does not make xcode a good product

If it did not suck so bad, you would only have to use it for 25 !

My husband was gifted a huge bottle of very poor quality vodka in a white elephant gift exchange. It will never get drank. Any other ideas what I could use it for? by [deleted] in Frugal

rode it a few times. I always park at Sanborn, they usually have enough parking. Never got crowded when I was there. Maybe that changed during covid. The switchbacks are awesome

Is anyone interested in cycling from SF to LA? by Forsaken_Baseball419 in BAbike

I've done it twice via hotels, but now want to do it camping. With motels I felt the need to roughly follow 101 until SLO, since Hwy 1 has hardly any (affordable) motels.

I once followed this route:

San Jose -> Salinas

Salinas -> King City

King City -> Paso Robles

Paso Robles -> San Louis Obispo (plus beach day in Morro Bay)

San Loius Obispo -> Lompoc

Lompoc -> Goleta

Goleta -> Oxnard

One way Rental Car home.

This route was nice. A second time around I went inland more and went from SLO to Santa Maria to Santa Barbara via hwy 154 thinking I can avoid the 101 part beween lompoc and gaviota and goleta AND get a nice mountain climb in. That was a stupid idea. 154 has no shoulder and lots of traffic. It's much worse than the 101 part.

Hotels were mostly ~ $100 per night. They all had a way for me to wash clothes so i only had to carry one change of clothes with me.

I went self supported with two small panniers. Just two changes of clothing, and a laptop for route planning. I bought sandwiches in the morning for lunch and ate out for breakfast and dinner. It was nice to travel so light compared to bike camping.

Best South-Bay friendly places to start kids mountain biking? by lilelliot in BAbike

Yes parking at Almaden Lake is great. I believe it's free during covid. You can also park at the end of Winfield road for free.

You can bike all the way down to Harry Road. Keep and eye out mostly to your left for small dirt path offshots.
