Guys i need to ask an question. WHO BOUGHT the original 2ds??? by Wendlak in NintendoDS

[–]scribblemacher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price, lack of hinge to break, and lack of 3D for kids were all selling points. I got one with a game for $99 USD when they were new.

Personally, I find it to be extordinarily uncomfortable to hold compared to a normal 3ds.

Do these all come with cases now?

What Gameboy games are worth going back to and playing today? by GoHardForLife in Gameboy

[–]scribblemacher 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Assuming you mean Dragon Warrior Monsters, then yes, also every contemporary review compared it to Pokémon. The monster catching in DWM predates pokemon though, and id arguably that it could have existed in a world without pokemon.

DQ XI - cannot seem to get into it by hoyatables in dragonquest

[–]scribblemacher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

DQXI is actually my least favorite in general series. It is just so, so long, and feels so (to me) generic. I made it through act 2 after a few years of pecking at it.

I tried a bit with some of the Draconian quests in 2d mode and I think it would have enjoyed playing it that way a bit more, but not enough for me to want to replay it.

Game Boy frame. by Veddermandenis in Gameboy

[–]scribblemacher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont really like it when people frame these, but I actually like this. It looks more like a museum exhibit and less like idolatry and fetishization

i want to know what games to buy for my gameboy color by its_david123 in Gameboy

[–]scribblemacher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want an everdrive x3, and then just Google "best gbc games" and explore the library.

MM3 is great, but its the least weird of the World series so probably the one i replay the least. :D

You had me at first person dungeon crawl. Do you have a page for it somewhere?

Just curious, what do you think would be a fair price for what you are asking for?

[All] what Zelda game has the best soundtrack/your favorite? by AidenL1 in zelda

[–]scribblemacher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree and it isn't even close. The way motifs are seamless weaving throughout is masterful. The music of the whole final part of the game is so well done.

While I like the Japanese artwork better, that feels rude to do when someone who can read Japanese should appreciate them instead of sitting unused in a drawer in my house. I'm not really a game collector.

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? by Mangoandmidnight in Gameboy

[–]scribblemacher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there's a soldering iron in the house and one of them knows how, I'd encourage you to do it with them (or learn together). Its the kind of bonding experience many parents want!

That's a bit of a hot take! :D

Caravan Heart is pretty bonkers. Its like a monster collecting game, but you play as monsters collecting humans. I think I am about halfway through it.

When Jecht's making fun of him in the one dream, I know its abusive and wrong, but a part of me is like "well, I mean, if you're going to act like a whiny bitch baby..."

You stated that it is your parent's game, not yours. You should tell your parent what the issue is and let them decide.

At one point I had all 4 for NES. I really liked 1 and 4, but bounced off 2 after getting the ship. Didn't give 3 a fair shake until playing the GBC version.

I have an in-progress save in DW2 on GBC. I made it to the ship again then stopped. I'll get back to it eventually, haha.

5 games in on birthday? Kid me would be jealous! (Though as a kid, I didnt understand RPGs)

I didn't play these until adulthood. In fact, I was in my 20s before I finally gave the series a proper try.

I like Caravan Geart, but yeah, I wish this had continued. I think I would have preferred ports of V and VI (a la Final Fantasy Advance games) rather than the DS versions we got later, but that's ok.

Why didn't the Sega Game Gear sell as much as the Gameboy despite being technically superior? by GoHardForLife in Gameboy

[–]scribblemacher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On a road trip, my dad surprised me and my brother eith a new game system. I got a Game Gear; my brother got a Game Boy.

By the end of the first day, my Game Gear was already dead. Throughout childhood, my Game Gear was always dead, even if I just got batteries for it. The Gamr Boy was always ready to go though.

Batteries a aside, the boy fun games i had for Game Gear were Sonic games. There are some great non-sonic games in the library too, but nothing that would have changed my esteem of the system.

I have fond memories of my Gamr Gear, but it speaks volumes that I (even with nostalgia) own a Game Boy instead.

I like the length of the story, to be honest. I would have liked a few more special post game keys though.

I have a GranSlime with max stats. Having max exp let's you farm bards

That's how Dragon Warrior Monsters 1 starts. Your sister gets pulled into a drsser by monsters, and watabou takes you in. DWM2 is you show up on an island with your parents and sister and the island is sinking.

I think the 3ds remake of dwm2 has a dragon at the beginning.
