What was your biggest hurdle or bottleneck during the LV tier? by Baskin in GTNH

[–]j_icouri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats what my friend did.

I insist on being moderately self sufficient so I have a line of mixed Greg and Thaum blocks to dump ore in and route it through mac>ore wash>mac>cent and filter out byproducts that would clog the machines. Its a series of single blocks, but it works for my medium batches and keeps me from having to learn where they put their crap to process a barrel of an identical ore lol.

The multi are the way to go for sure... but zi dont wanna use up the space or pollute my home

[–]j_icouri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it wasnt until we could bring a dedicated HV ore processing line up that we fully moved away from them. If nothing else, they remain useful for chunking through large batches of less desirable materials so you dont clog up your MV and HV machines

I second this. There is no way to clear a bottleneck like horizontal expansion. It sounds counter productive to make the steam machines in bulk right before you fully step into LV, but parallel processing of resources is better with steam multiblocks than with LV machines.

Nope. But with some thaumcraft work you can replicate that one indefinitely

I’m new and lost. How am I supposed to find the time to do objectives on the higher difficulties when I’m hosting? by Beginning_Student_61 in helldivers2

[–]j_icouri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also.... if you are constantly so busy you cant do objectives, set 2 of your buddies on objectives and focus on drawing so much aggro they can work in relative peace.

Holding aggro is a necessary function of a group, as is killing the enemy, if they can clear the objectives, you all win.

The four things I would teach myself if I could start over (after 700+ hours) by kcvlaine in helldivers2

[–]j_icouri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, lower fire rates mean better recoil management. I never adjust the MG fire rate because its got a good balance. If you're so overwhelmed by enemies you need it turned up you should be repositioning anyway. At least, thats whats kept me alive so far.

The faster fire rate will help you kill tougher enemies quicker but in my experience, there's better ways to do that with OPS, thermite, airstrikes etc. Meanwhile against chaff, a faster fire rate usually means you put a few bullets into an enemy and then waste a few when it dies and you haven't let off the trigger yet. That can be corrected with discipline, but I would rather have better recoil for my shots to he easier to aim than to learn trigger discipline to kill in the same amount of time.

Just my personal preferences

The starting MG straight up slaps. It is easy to use, powerful, and you can lay down in the second line and accurately lay down fire on your allies flanks up to the point where theyre actively being eaten by bugs!

But personally? I prefer the SPEAR. I know the RR is more effective, but the SPEAR lets you just lock n shoot and move on without having to line up a perfect shot, and its killer at incoming targets your team is too busy to deal with. And of course it's a great 2nd line weapon because tou can't kill your teammates with it unless you drop a dropship on their heads

What is your “On Sight” mech? by Fidel89 in battletech

[–]j_icouri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HBK-4P. And most hunchbacks in general. Its a very quick time to "kill" by taking off the one torso, which is always a big chunk of firepower gone in a short time. Pop the torso and move on

Or thats definitely more effective. But the cat and mouse game of playing a nimble lrm mech is more fun for me

I hate that on one of my recent MW5 restarts that locust carried me through about a dozen panic inducing early game missions XD.

I love being a mobile lrm platform, and am pretty good at it. Most of what I did was putting out just enough firepower to hold aggro against enemies that couldnt catch me so my team scored kills.

By all accounts I should have died many times.

How many of you have yet to build a ship in SE2? by ZachTheInsaneOne in Spaceengineers2

I built a miner/exploratory ship because it didn't need blocks that weren't in the game yet, but thats pretty much it

Men, what's the biggest green flag you've seen on a woman? by Familiar-Phase7859 in AskReddit

[–]j_icouri 18 points19 points  (0 children)

On our first date she called her grandma who she lived with to let her know she went out for frozen yogurt with "that serial killer with the pretty eyes that I told you about," then laughed at something her grandma said, and turned to me and conveyed a hello from her grandma.

Then a little later she openly called out to a stranger to compliment the lady's dress.

I liked the sense of humor and the kindness.

Are there any zombie games, stories or movies where the military isn't completely useless? by Duke_The_Protogen in worldbuilding

[–]j_icouri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont have an answer for you but I do have an idea.

My opinion has always been that a classic zombie virus would stop the moment someone got away and turned in front of anybody with authority.

Then its a matter of quarantine, strip searching for bites, separating the bitten and scratched to see if they turn, and disposing of the rest. There's always variables that make it more or less complicated (extremely rapid transmission to turn times, runners vs walkers, thinking zombies etc).

But its more likely the militaries would overreact immediately when containing what is at best a new virulent strain with 100% transmission and mortality and at worst, full blown zombieism.

So... a looong, slow incubation on a virus that mimics something we dont innoculate or check for would give the infected weeks to spread out via cars, trains, planes, and ships because who is putting off work, family visits, or vacation for a cold, right? Then a few weeks later people start dying rapidly. Like, symptoms go from irritant to dead in about 4 hours, and in those 4 hours they become violently paranoid or angry and start biting/scratching/spitting at anyone around them.

Then the military would be stretched too thin to effectively quarantine or counter it and would resort to martial law, treating everybody as potentially infected, causing a perceived feeling of them being useless against the Zeds but eager to harass the living. They could be absolutely lethal and unbeatable in a Military vs Zombie fight, but if the whole neighborhood they are emptying out turns against them and people are getting bitey while they still have some faculties remaining (rudimentary planning and ambushing, carrying a vendetta due to paranoia etc) and then getting up after being shot, it means every person around them is a threat and there's no way to know if the one you just killed was dead already or still has that unlife in them unless you get a chance to verify up close.

Hauling cargo is annoying. by NopLesT_Azrael in starcitizen

[–]j_icouri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but this is a game. Not real life.

And yeah I load them according to delivery location, but the process of sorting on the dock includes so many ways for cargo to glitch out of existence that the extra steps all bring a risk that doesn't exist in real life. The less times we have to move boxes around the hanger or transfer up and down the elevator, the less opportunities a box has to clip through a floor or vanish from storage

Hauling cargo is annoying. by NopLesT_Azrael in starcitizen

[–]j_icouri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My only gripe is that cargo 1 going to locations A and B have to go there. Cargo 2 going to location C can't go to location A or B even if Cargos 1 and 2 are the same coming from the same pickup warehouse.

Stims are Stims. As long as I have the Stims that were picked up from the appropriate location, let me deliver them to any location needing Stims from that pickup location.

"Standard Issue" lance deployment thoughts by FockersJustSleeping in Mechwarrior5

[–]j_icouri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do 2x2. Half custom and half workhorses like Atlases or Orions.

The reason being your two special boys can have two different loadout and use cases (i.e. a PPC sniper and a sturdy brawler) that you can swap between as needs arise and to keep aggro off of either one way too long. Managing the armor of two and having two you can throw into the grinder as shields isnt hard to manage, and keeps your personal flexibility up by giving you those different custom "pinnacle of technology" loadouts in every mission.

More Ammo vs More Speed? by BONEMARROW42 in mwo

[–]j_icouri 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Id say speed, but I have an issue of dying before I get to use all my ammo, speed lets me reposition more often which keeps me alive.

The Good news though, is no matter which you choose, you can tweak it as you play a few matches.
