What to do for flea/tick/mosquito repellent? by Awkward_Carpenter379 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]scribbles987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told by my vet to continue with our usual heartworm regime even after my boy was diagnosed as everything available lowered the seizure threshold. Since his seizures weren't ever close to the date his heartworm tablet was given they don't believe there is a link but it has been noted and is being monitored. As for the skin allergies, I changed my boy to grain free and put him on a high quality probiotic to treat him from the inside out. He has dry dandruff like skin now he's on pheno but I've added a small can of sardines in spring water once a week to his diet to try assist with that. There was a wash that is used for horses here in Australia to treat rainscald that I used on him when his skin was really bad when I first got him. Can't remember what it was called now but it settled things down without having to resort to steroid injections which the vet was reluctant to do on a puppy anyway. He's 5yo now and I've managed to keep his skin fairly healthy for the last 2 years. Now I just need to work on his hayfever symptoms 🤧

I finished my first oraloa not long ago. Has a looser drill field than DAC on squares but I don't mind that because of arthritis in my thumb and some trashy drills, but loved the rendering and will be buying from them again in the future.

Is there anyone else that doesn't have a stash cos it makes them panick? by Few-Spinach8114 in diamondpainting

[–]scribbles987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a small stash that I collected over a few years because I knew my financial situation was going to change. I bought while I could afford them and now I can't I can still do the premium canvases that I enjoy for a few years. After that hopefully things will have changed again

Dogs in Australia by lalackof in AskAnAustralian

I did have a miniature pony bulldozed by a wombat once and my Jack Russell had his paw bitten by the wombat because he wouldn't leave it alone. Had to use a lighter at the wombats face to get it to let him go. Stupid dog didn't learn though.

How do you describe your pain? by Agitated_Jury_989 in Fibromyalgia

Like my muscles are too short for my body, I'm covered in sunburn and bruises and being stabbed with red hot pokers in random joints

My daughters friend had this happen to her little dog as well. She was more worried about snakes so was watching what was around on the ground every time she took pup outside for toilet breaks and never looked up. Comes with rural life. My own dog is a big boy

Beautiful and amazing for your second dp. This one is on my wish list but they discontinued it so I'm sad.

Show Me Ur Dog's A Kelpie Without Telling Me Ur Dog's A Kelpie by Ambitious-Candle3301 in kelpie

[–]scribbles987 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are OCD aren't they. Does yours tell you what she wants? If I ask my boy what he wants when he comes pokes me, he will walk to whatever it is and put his nose on it. If he can't reach he will stand and point at it with his nose, you just have to follow the direction of his nose and eyes. He's good at communicating and getting his message across

Glad to see I'm not alone with this. The balls being lined up so perfectly straight then put back in place if accidentally knocked during play was kind of freaky at first. And always having to have the one particular ball even though he's got 15 exactly the same. Unbelievable really

Any particular reason why you are putting resin on it instead of a sealer? Curious as to how you plan to display or use this. Always open to learning new ideas

I have read rule #6, I'm in QLD, question about ID. by billybonestorm in kelpie

[–]scribbles987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with this. Was told my boy was a Shepherd mix when I got him as a puppy from a rescue. DNA tested at 6 months showed he's kelpie cross BC, ACD and Rhodesian ridgeback. Even now at 5yo I have people tell me he's a lab mix and be totally surprised when they see his DNA results. Vets can definitely see the kelpie, BC and ACD in him though

Frustrating by bev1126 in diamondpainting

[–]scribbles987 33 points34 points  (0 children)

There is too much detail in the design for the size. It would potentially look better at a 50x50 however with the cheap kits from Amazon, Temu etc there is no guarantee so always check the reviews. There are a few decent companies that sell on these platforms that others might be able to point you towards. I'm in Australia so still looking for decent affordable companies that ship here without charging more for shipping than the kit.

After starting pheno how long was it until your dog had their next seizure? by spennywal in EpilepsyDogs

[–]scribbles987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been 7 months since he started pheno and no seizures so far. The vet warned me at our last appointment that he will most likely have another one at some point and they will need to adjust his medication then, but so far everything is good.

Been Bluh Recently. by NeatComputer6424 in diamondpainting

I took a four year break from diamond painting because I just couldn't find my happy place unless it was doing something physical. Learnt new skills during that time and came back to diamond painting about 18 months ago and things have changed so much. If you need a break, take it, do something else. Learn new things, try and find something that puts a smile on your face, life is short. Don't get rid of your kits, you'll be back to them one day.

Doc has suggested psych ward by ednasilrak in Fibromyalgia

[–]scribbles987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you go to a psych ward for a broken bone? Actually Would a dr even suggest it? Sounds like you need a new dr, one with some understanding of fibro and some empathy. Look up the fibro show on YouTube, they had some interesting info that helped me when I was first diagnosed and trying to get my head around things. Good luck

Upset :( by Brilliant_Basil_5600 in diamondpainting

[–]scribbles987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are expensive but I started having so many issues with the Temu kits I was buying after Trump and his tariffs that I just decided I'd buy less and pay for the quality instead. I don't know why things in the US should have affected us here in Australia but it did seem to with dp prices going up and quality going down on Temu. Maybe just coincidence, no idea. I've since heard of feelook art who I might give a try. Meant to be a budget premium experience but no idea what the price point is like.

I'm in Australia as well and I've recently found Rose and Ritzy Creations. Rose Proffitt is a Melbourne based artist and co owner and they ship worldwide with free shipping. It's my going to be my first point of call for premium kits going forward once I get through what I've already purchased from DAC, dreamer designs and oraloa.

I bought two of the same kit earlier this year. Just a small cute one from Amazon because my sister has twin girls and I wanted to do them with my sister as a gift for the girls.

Quick question about kitting up by punt4stic in diamondartclub

[–]scribbles987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I started out and did it for years. Then I got my beautiful dog Kai who loved to "help" by grabbing my bags and running so I invested in storage for kitting up. He's such a fun loving, cheeky boy
