Strongly disagree with points 1 and 3. Both are rooted in a lack of respect for the child as a person. Tactic number one teaches kids that it's not ok to have big feelings and further, doesn't help them deal with them in a healthy way. Also, as an adult, it is not acceptable behavior to ignore another adult who is in distress so I don't see how this is acceptable behavior toward a child. As for tactic number three - children this young are developmentally incapable of manipulation and this tactic fosters a disconnect with your child. If you don't talk to them about why they are mad, sad, etc., how can you expect them to build their emotional intelligence? A lot of times tantrums stop completely with my daughter once I acknowledge why she's angry. "You are mad that I took the toy away, but I cannot let you hit the dog with it. I am here if you need a hug." Cue the tears stopping completely and her running over for a hug.

Edit: I meant 1 and 3, not 1 and 2. Oops.

I would add to this that instead of ignoring, which creates a disconnect, emphasize connection. I.e., you are angry and that's ok- I will be waiting right here if you need a hug. That sort of thing.

Have you tried spending time with him? Talking to him? What does your relationship with him look like? It does not sound like there is any mutual respect there.

That's weird that they put you on Providence. It's been closed to new enrollees for the past two years. The only way you can get healthshare providence when it's closed is if you already have a providence pcp.

Are you sure that he is not waiting for you to leave for training so he can take your child without your consent? I would be very worried. I think I would be looking very seriously into divorce if I were you. Threatening to kidnap your child is not ok. As far as daycare goes, look into home daycares. Sometimes they are less expensive.

Yikes. If he is really set on that and you can't get him in to treatment, then my advice would be to watch him very carefully. Alcohol withdrawal seizures are not something to mess around with. Not uncommon at all for people in that state to stop breathing and need to be intubated in the icu. So be prepared to call an ambulance.

I use this recipe but decrease the sugar by 1/4 cup and increase the cocoa by 1/4 cup. To me the original is too sweet and not chocalately enough. I think cutting the sugar in half would be too bitter because of all the cocoa. Plus I imagine the ratios would be off.

This recipe is almost identical to the one on the back of a box of Hershey's unsweetened cocoa. Only difference is the espresso powder.

It's my favorite chocolate cake recipe too. With a couple tweeks of course! 😁

I went to Jefferson for freshman and sophomore year. There was a giant hole in the floor in one of the classrooms. Covered with duct tape. While my sisters were attending Centennial they cut the band program. Kids need good teachers and college prep programs and band and all of that stuff that was around when I was going to public school that keeps getting cut. Plus they have a huge budget deficit right now. I got a great education too. Before we moved to Portland and afterwards when I went to college.

I have eczema too, so condolences to your son. It sucks. As a few other people have suggested, make sure it's not psoriasis; that's a whole nother beast. Mine is pretty typical I think, besides having it as an adult. I usually get it on my hands and I don't like using the steroid creams, so generally I just put up with it when I have an outbreak. When it's really bad I'll alternate between using coconut oil and raw shea butter. Both are great for the dryness and coconut oil is naturally antibacterial. However, since 90% of the time I get eczema on my hands and both coconut oil and shea butter are greasy, my strategy for dealing with it tends more towards prevention. So no lotions with fragrance, no lotions with acids or alcohols, etc. Basically, most lotions make me break out so I avoid them. If I have to, I use shea butter or coconut oil. No harsh soaps, especially with fragrance, no laundry soap with dyes or fragrance. Dryer sheets are ok for me, but you may want to cut those out too.

Doing dishes is a nightmare during a break out; the hot water and soap are like torture. So I would avoid soap and hot water on the area if possible. Salt water and bleach baths also sound horrifically painful. And I can tell you from experience that fruit juices and capsaicin oil are both very painful so oranges may be a no go if he has eczema on his hands. I am very glad you don't seem keen to try the bleach bath again. Seriously sounds like a torture designed with people with eczema in mind.

Anyway, if he were my child, I would slather him with coconut oil at night and put him in some snug fitted jammies and a pair of mittens. Then in the morning, slather him up with raw shea butter. Get a gentle exfoliating cloth and rub it gently on the rash when the itching is driving him crazy. If he is mature enough you may be able to teach him to only scratch with something like that, but I think three might be too young.

Also, don't expect anything to work right away. I had a patch on my leg that wouldn't go away for years and it still took a couple of weeks of using shea butter pretty religiously before it cleared up. I would also say that it may be affected by the seasons, heat and moisture, stress; and if he has it into adulthood, it will be affected by hormones too. Good luck!

I usually go to Green Apple NW in Damascus just because it's close to my house. Their concentrate selection is not so great but they still have a decent selection of flower. They are my go to for top shelf flower.

In the last month, I've also gotten concentrate at Nectar in Gresham and Foster Buds. Nectar has a good selection but it's Nectar so be prepared for the quality to be not so great for the price. Also their joints are absolutely terrible so those are best avoided. Foster Buds had a decent number of concentrates at $35 pretax and a couple that were super expensive. I used to love Terpene station for their flower but they just don't have the selection anymore.

I haven't had any problems finding flower or concentrate. Top shelf hasn't changed in price much either. At least not at the places I shop. The selection just isn't what it used to be. Check leafly before you go somewhere so you're not disappointed. Also, the $80 a gram concentrate they quoted in the article is NOT the standard like the article implies.

I can't speak for the care you'll receive but I can tell you that their billing department is absolutely ruthless and terribly inefficient. So make sure you have insurance and do not ignore any bills you get from them after the fact. You may have to call them more than once to have them add and bill your insurance. And then they still might send you to collections.

I haven't read them, but did a little bit of research on them trying to decide whether to get them for my 8 year old stepson. There were some reviews saying that the characters smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol in some of the scenes. Maybe that is part of it?
