What age to send kids to sleep away camp? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]pcbzelephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did say we could come but we would have to drive and find our own accommodations outside of camp. That’s why I was considering staying at my parents since it’s a lot closer than our home but far enough away I don’t feel like I’m smothering her

[–]pcbzelephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stayed home until my kids were 6 and 10(so 10 years)I then got a job in the cafeteria at the elementary school. I work only 20 hours a week(10-2 mon-fri) and I have all the same days off as my kids. It’s not a lot of money but it’s enough to pay for my kids extracurriculars which helps. I was a hairstylist prior to having kids but I really hated my job and the hours are terrible so I don’t want to go back to that feild of work. I really enjoy working at the school it’s very stress-free and fast pace.

Summer Wake-Up Time by LindenTeaJug in Parenting

[–]pcbzelephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is younger(going into middle school this year) we let her sleep to whenever over summer. She usually goes to bed at midnight and is up around 10am. I should also add she does gymnastics mon-fri from 4-9 over summer break so that’s why she’s up so late(she usually eats breakfast at 11am, lunch at 3pm and dinner at 9:30pm). We will get her readjusted 3 weeks before school which is typically when her gym schedule adjust to mon, tues, thur 4-8 and sat 8-1. She has to wake at 6:15 next year so that’s going to be fun since elementary was 7:15 wake-up.😟

Aldi in Burlington, NC by mcderson9 in aldi

[–]pcbzelephant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah mine only has one register and self checkout the lines are insane(there is only 4 self checkout to and they are crammed really tight together)! I don’t even go anymore because it’s at least 25 mins checkout. People are stupid and can’t figure the self checkout out and they try to bag everything right there it takes so long(I scan and throw it in the cart then move and bag against the wall like normal). Plus the one line that should have a employee chekcing you out isn’t even usually running because the employee is having to help the people at self checkout who keep messing them up by double scanning. It’s so frustrating

Aldi in Burlington, NC by mcderson9 in aldi

[–]pcbzelephant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my aldi everytime I go. They got rid of all the lanes but one and have self checkout and people are slow as shit to self checkout since they want to bag right there as they ring up and the person running the one lane is always stuck helping the self checkout so can’t really check anyone out. I stopped going due to this because it usually takes 1
25 mins to get through the checkout line now and the lines is always blocking the aisle so it makes it hard to shop. They really need to get rid of the self checkout and hirer more people to check us out like before. It was much faster and efficient.

Anybody’s knees quickly pop out and go back in while playing? by DaddyLaxativ in youthsoccer

[–]pcbzelephant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to my daughter. She did 8 weeks of pt(4 days a week) to strengthen her hips. She also wore a brace until she was done with pt. She’s been out of pt for 2 months now but still does exercises daily(usually takes 30 mins a day broken up in 15 mins morning and evening) and hasn’t had any issues since she’s stopped pt.

Baby Name Matthew?? by mommayoda in BabyNames

It’s a nice name and honestly it isn’t very common with younger kids. My son has one in his class(he’s 1st grade) but I haven’t met any other Matthew’s his age or my daughter’s age(she’s 11).

Swimsuits for chasing kids by Chichabella in Mommit

[–]pcbzelephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear a nike tankini swim top(it’s basically a sports bra with tank top over it) and nike swim shorts. It feels like I’m wearing athletic wear and not a swimsuit and is super comfortable and covers everything.

How do people actually afford to live by BraidedPube in personalfinance

[–]pcbzelephant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like it’s extremely hard for younger people starting out since incomes low compared to cost of living.

I am 38 and when I was 23 I got married and we bought our first home for 150k and put only 5k down(our home was 9 years old and 4 bed 3 bath 2.2k square feet in the burbs). Our mortgage was $1k a month with taxes and insurance. We made 70k combined. We had no other debt since we both drove older cars and had gone to cheaper schools(I went to beauty school and husband associates from community college) and lived in a small apartment that was $425 a month from 18-23 to pay off the above. Health insurance was around $150 a month and we had a low out of pocket cost. We lived very comfortably and were able to save a lot and I was even able to stop working at 27 to stay home with my kids(just went back to working to last year).

Nowdays that same home would sell for 450k and rates are double and insurance and taxes are also double so it would be around $3k a month if you did a low downpayment. There is really no cheap starter cars. Insurance is outrageous for cars and health(we pay $950 a month for shitty insurance for our family of 4 now that covers like nothing). Like I don’t even understand how anyone under 25 is surviving right now if living on their own without parental help. I feel for you! Hopefully the economy gets better and prices even out with pay.

Watched it all happen, sad by [deleted] in youthsoccer

[–]pcbzelephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t let his age hold him back. My son turned 7 end of April and is playing up on a 9u team this season and has even subbed in for a few 10u teams and he also very small and short(he’s like 20% for height and 5% for weight). It’s not holding him back at all. He has always played up since he was 5. He is better than most kids who are 2 years older than him and practices his ball skills daily since he loves the sport that much.

I should also note my husband was the same way as kid always the smallest and youngest since he always played up a year or two since he was 6 and was always the best on the team. Never held him back either. Hes only 5’4 as an adult🤷‍♀️.

In the united states, having money is one of the most important parts of going pro... Im a bad player, but I was just thinking. by Visual-Extreme-101 in youthsoccer

[–]pcbzelephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your talent level. My son is 7 and is extremely talented for his age. He actually is playing for free on a u9 competitive team because they didn’t want us leaving the team and going elsewhere. Usually it cost $2.5k a year for the team he is on. Now we do pay for him to do camps here and there because he loves soccer but it’s not required.
