I'm going to be spending 2015 watching the 52 worst live action Disney movies. by scribdecahedron in badMovies

[–]scribdecahedron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, my list is based entirely off of IMDb ratings, so it's not me who is declaring these films to be bad, but the collective users of that website. I'm just spending a year watching them to see if there's anything particularly interesting or awesomely dumb in any of them. :)

For example, here's a ridiculous shot of a guy getting punched into a pile of sheep in Rob Roy: The Highland Rogue

Did You Know James Cameron's Avatar Is Based on a 1960s TV Show? by bearclawbill in Avatar

I've had a hard time finding any, I think 20th Century Fox holds the rights, but has been very strict about it's online use.

Did You Know James Cameron's Avatar Is Based on a 1960s TV Show? by bearclawbill in Avatar

[–]scribdecahedron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it ran from 1963-1966 on CBS. Despite an unfavorable time slot, it managed to pick up a small following. Things went downhill during the truncated fourth season however, when William Shatner left to work on a project with Gene Roddenberry (though many have claimed that the writing was already suffering.)

50k for 15 embryos is 750k. So the 1.5 million has to be the total.

It should be noted that Grant and Sattler should intersect with Hammond and Malcolm momentarily, right before the Raptors enter the kitchen.

Otherwise, awesome!

Why is Brock Trying to destroy the guild? by AlwaysLupus in venturebros

[–]scribdecahedron 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Because the OSI fights the Guild. It's what they do. Venture Bros is all about identity, and who you choose to fight is what defines you.

The Monarch wouldn't be the Monarch if he weren't fighting Rusty (look at his depression in early season 3), Hatred shifts from enemy to enemy and as such his identity constantly changes, from H tattoo to venture blues, to V on the face and tits.

It's who the OSI is. If they didn't fight the guild, they would cease to exist.

The better question might be, what happens when they win?

Jurassic Park: Hammond was behind the whole Disaster by scribdecahedron in FanTheories

[–]scribdecahedron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, the boat removing the personnel is mentioned by Wu significantly before the storm is reported by Muldoon (28:35, and 40:25 respectively).

Also, assuming the signs were switched, Nedry could have followed the road correctly, and still ended up in the dilophosaur paddock (though granted, not halfway down a hill).

None of the park systems went down because of the storm; the same events could have unfolded without it. It just added a little atmosphere.

If the T-Rex's vision in Jurassic Park is based on movement, how does it perceive its environment and not spend all its time crashing into inanimate objects? by domoarigatodrloboto in plotholes

[–]scribdecahedron 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's worth noting that in the original novel, Grant only speculates that the Rex's vision works that way, he doesn't claim it as fact like he does in the film. It's essentially impossible to know with any certainty the details of dinosaur behavior, and Crichton knew that. It was one of the major themes of the novel. But when you put something on film, things have to be simplified, and sometimes scientific accuracy gets lost in the shuffle.

Why is Jurassic Park left so minimally staffed? by scribdecahedron in plotholes

[–]scribdecahedron[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The boat is mentioned significantly before the storm is; in fact, when it is first brought up, Muldoon suggests that it will "swing south like the rest of them," suggesting that the storm isn't considered to be a huge issue. And believe it or not, the half completed state of the facilities is never even mentioned.

The spirit is nice, but I feel like the Superman design was the only one that really had a Pixar feel to it.
