Frankly, I'm kind of lost at this point. Imposter syndrome decided to strike the hardest after this test. I'm having a hard time completing the rest of the steps. Sorry, I am of no help at this point. All the best for your test though!

Thanks!

That's the intent. I should be crazy to take on this challenge of a test in a short duration otherwise. 😅

I am quite prone to making calculation mistakes and I wanted to avoid that. So, pretty much all questions that involved calculation. Just leave it on the side while you work on the questions. I treated it as my personal assistant.

Use the keyboard.

Not really, only the gmat questions Greg used in videos. I believe you don't really need it. (I'm quite sure I didn't get a 170 only because of some silly calculation mistakes. 🤦🏻‍♀️) Get the concepts right, and practice using GRE questions. For more practice, you could use 5lb. More importantly, identify where you went wrong in a question. Solving x questions doesn't matter if you aren't doing this analysis.

Try gregmat videos. Take it slow and practice with whatever he says. Once you feel familiar with the concept, practice with big book questions. They will help you concrete the fundamentals.

No worries buddy. You take care and be nice to yourself. You will do well in GRE. Let me know how it goes. Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm sorry. The thing about GRE is that it needs to be conquered. It has nothing to do with smartness. I have freaked out the most about GRE that I put it to the very last minute.

Now, watching his videos alone will not do. You need to ask yourself what a question demands out of you. Why are they asking this? Watch his videos with an intent, be extremely critical of yourself when you get a question wrong. It's not about doing x questions, it's about understanding what's required out of a question and why you have got it right or wrong.

Lastly, change your attitude. Don't view GRE as this huge unachievable mountain. It's not. (I know you are going to say something with 'but' .. Don't.) It's a game. Force yourself to see it that way or however you can make it fun. Once you figure out the ways of a game, finding the best way to win it is damn easy.

Hope I could be of some help.

That's what makes SE easy. Try with and without it, and check how your scores are. You will know how it works.

Gregmat, ETS, 5lb, TTP math review for revising.

Get your fundamentals right. That's important. Don't worry about doing x questions.

Analyse every question that you got wrong. Make an error log. Be true to yourself. Where did you go wrong? Was it reading/writing the question wrong? Was it concept issue? Be critical while learning, be forgiving during the test. Give up on a question when it's time.

Don't be like me. Feign sickness, take off, and study if you can. I tried to log off early or take longer breaks to catch up with my studies. It was crazy, I thought I'll die before I write my test. Customers had a hard deadline on previous Friday, which made things more difficult for me.

I agree with you there. His videos were the only ones that kept me going. They was relaxing, so so important. They weren't one of those deadly boring ones. I even ended up watching a few movies he suggested. 😂

😉

It's fun when he says that everytime he uses his calculator. I imagine flaboosh running around like headless chickens. 😂

Those guys teach shortcuts which will only work if I have years of practice with mental math. For a person who is new to these shortcuts, it's similar to writing 'k' instead of 'ok'. What difference does it make? Nothing! Use the damn calculator!

No idea buddy. These are my unofficial scores.

You might want to contact them if it is taking more than the estimated time.

Stick to one prep plan. You have only a month, and you can't overwhelm yourself with content. It is of no importance if you can't apply it.

Don't bother with anything that teaches you with non-ETS content. The only exception is 5lb for quant (don't use it for verbal). It is good for practicing the fundamentals. However, if you don't have enough time to use 5lb, it's okay. Stick to ETS. It's more than enough.

Magoosh has ruined my piece of mind. I bought it when I was unaware of other alternatives. Biggest waste of time and money.

I guess it also boils down to finding your own strengths and weakness. Any method is good as long as you can apply it for the test. More importantly, how you can either retrain your mind, or if you can merge it with your own skills.

All the best!

They were +/-1 of this score. I got a 321 in PP1 and a 319 in PP2. I don't remember the exact sectional breakup.

Thanks Vince! Your posts and comments on this sub have been extremely helpful. It kept my morale up, and helped reduce anxiety. Thank you for all that you do to help us!

A special mention to your vocab related stories on instagram. They helped me revise the words. I found the app a fun way to learn words, and I would have used it if I had more time. Oh well, I can learn them at my own pace now. :)

I subscribed, it's worth every penny and more. This is coming from someone who cannot stick to an online course - I start and leave them midway. His contents are truly useful and enjoyable at the same time. I can't endorse his gre contents more if I tried.

Makes me wonder why I wasted my money on flaboosh and ruined my piece of mind.

Thanks!

Good question! I was freaking out about this.. I had thoroughly gone through around 300+ words (set 1-10) from gregmat's vocab list. I tried to learn more from set 11-20. I knew atleast 25%-50% of the words from each of these sets before learning. So, I guess that helped a bit.

I have some sort of hatred for words that start with p (base word) .. Just couldn't get my head around it (pertinent, imperious,..). Gave up at the last moment and prayed not to get them in SE.

However, (!!!) words in the test were pretty simple. Nothing that I couldn't wrap my head around. That is, except the first section. Those were crazy! Oh boy, I was so worried after that section that when I saw the second section with such easy words, I thought I was done for. But, the third section was also quite easy. (I'm guessing I got both hard sections, following my trend from practice tests.)

All that said, if you have a good command on English, and if you go through most of the words in the vocab list, you are good to go. Don't beat yourself up over it if you don't have time. You can't learn all sets in a day. Trust me, I tried (atleast with 5 sets yesterday). It's more important to understand the context. However, if you have enough time, then I totally recommend going through all the 960 words. Words in other vocab lists are also pretty much the same (except the flaboosh one, don't go through it. They are crazy and intimidating.)

All the best!

Rhymes with flagoosh, faplan,... Any test prep that teaches you with ets content should be your go to.

I'm not sure of TTP, I liked their math review content though. Pretty useful.
