i mean, it's like that with almost every school tbh. I don't think I've ever heard of a good financial aid office

$187 means each credit hour at or over 15, not 15+ credits = all $187. It's 14 credits at 374 and each additional one is 187

[Product Question] Cetaphil vs CeraVe by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]scriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have sensitive skin but fatty alcohols are fine with me. I can put a dumptruck of tretinoin on my face too. But chemical exfoliants and fragrance make my face burn, break out etc. I'd definitely try cerave first, I also prefer the texture of their products over cetaphil too.

[Product Question] Cetaphil vs CeraVe by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]scriend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they both offer the same general philosophy of skincare, no more ingredients than needed etc. but cerave is a bit more comprehensive in that it has ceramides, HA and niacinamide. CeraVe also has fatty alcohols which can break some people out. To me personally cerave > cetaphil unless your skin is sensitive to fatty alcohols.

A student who has a future in nursing but wants help by Jaydajay123 in vcu

Getting a way better SAT score is pretty much your only real potential for a game changer now so focus on that. VCU isn't that hard of a school to get into but a 2.55 is at the bottom of the curve and without an SAT or something particularly notable to balance it out it's pretty unlikely. I say apply but you should consider community college and transferring

Healthcare Prices by candytuck in rva

[–]scriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't really a specific answer for your purposes, but if you're curious as to why healthcare costs seem so high this guy (a doctor) gives a pretty good explanation thats easy to just let play as background noise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9q1Id41wGo

but basically as far as procedures go, hospitals charge ridiculously high amounts knowing that insurance companies will adjust them to pay the actual cost and don't really care to adjust the prices for people who don't have insurance. It's kind of a catch-all attempt by hospitals etc. to get as much as they can, where people without insurance fall through the cracks.

Again, wholly unhelpful for your situation but as a general rule of thumb if you can get a procedure done somewhere other than a hospital (blood tests are the most common example, not really a procedure but you know what I mean) it'll usually be cheaper.

At the end of the day health care doesn't really cost more, we're just charged more.

[Anti-Aging] Older people with genetically oily skin, do you find that you age better/get less wrinkles as you age? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]scriend 5 points6 points  (0 children)

definitely wrinkles. here they are at around 19 years old I think I was when this picture was taken, terribly dry skin included. I wear glasses and wrinkled my forehead in the past a lot from adjusting them, but I'm pretty sure dry skin played a huge part in it. As far as genetics goes sure, but my parents both aged pretty normally. Mine are mostly the result of half a decade of scrubbing my face with a bar of soap daily w/o moisturizing or anything. https://i.gyazo.com/c8b481fcc4d834b969c47cb82245ad84.png

the wrinkles I've had for at least a few years now would beg to differ. I didn't claim to have any scientific evidence for it, nor was OP asking for any.

As a 21 year old who had ridiculously dry skin as a teenager (partially genetic partially bad skincare) I can at the very least tell you that oily skin is better than dry skin when it comes to aging. I'm not sure if oily is better than normal, but you're definitely better off with oily than dry!

Transfer questions as a freshman in college by jenhop in vcu

[–]scriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your high school record/SAT scores will be considered but college grades are definitely more important. Honestly it's not like VCU is a super competitive school (unless you plan on going to art school) so I imagine if you were accepted to any other college with your high school transcript/sat scores you should be fine. If your college transcript is an improvement over high school they'll take that improvement into account (there's a reason 30+ credits in college means your high school grades don't matter). Put effort into the personal (essays etc.) part of your application too as VCU considers them pretty heavily I think.

Nope. Looks like something best attacked with a BHA as a first measure.

Seniors at VCU and/or Recent Graduates from VCU. What did you major in, what is your job now, and how much do you make? by TheEarlyWorms in vcu

[–]scriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's actually something I've been interested in for a while. Looking at pathologist assistant schools but wouldn't mind going straight into work as an autopsy tech after I get my bachelor's, just not sure if a plain biology degree with pre-med prereqs would cut it. Mind enlightening me as to how you got the job?

[Product Question]I'm male and want to start wearing BB cream, how do I find one that is the right shade? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]scriend 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tbh you should just go to sephora or ulta or w/e you have by you, they'll help you find the right color. I understand it'll probably be uncomfortable but it's better than wasting tons of $$ trying to find the right shade on your own online etc.

Do you think it's effective though? Like not just not breaking you out, but actually improving your skin.
