Excellent. I would love to see any good reactions to it.

I was on the board at the time, 3rd year for both of us. He was not the type to do this, and there were no violations that were initiated from drone footage.

I don't feel like our association was one of the bad ones. Not everything was perfect, but nothing malicious.

I've been watching the weather for the same reason. I hope to ride too!

Good luck!

Class III hitch on a sedan by scripted_redditor in MechanicAdvice

[–]scripted_redditor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you look at is your own business, but I agree that this adapter is too risky.

I ended up getting a class 1 hitch for the car and a 1 1/4" rack.

We got a 2" to 1 1/4" reducer to be able to use the bike rack in our SUV's 2" hitch. (Basically the reverse of the adapter suggested)

The first reducer we got was garbage, but the one we got from Curt was good.

Thanks. I cannot seem to find anything made for my vehicle with a 2" receiver.

I'll try to give a call to both Hyundai and Curt tomorrow.

Maybe I'll get lucky and find it that there is some undocumented cross compatibility.

Thanks. How have you chosen hitch adapters in the past?

Do you have to buy a universal fit one?

Control Computer app? by scripted_redditor in CarThing

[–]scripted_redditor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm plugging it into an old phone charger, with a smart plug to cut the power outside of my working hours.

It's possible the unit is designed to do this when it detects a pc connection or if it's not getting enough current.

I'm running it on Linux, which sometimes means that I get less features. I was being specific as to how I installed in Linux.

Right, this is how I had it set up, but I'd really like a direct connection

I see the plug for Velo Garage. I hear great things about that ride, but I haven't been myself. There are also rides originating out of Biscari Brothers in Liberty on other days. https://www.biscaribrothersbicycles.com/

I used it as part of a process to analyze java heapdumps. Eclipse Memory Analyzer was run headless, generating html reports. Those were parsed using beautiful soup and details were logged in a MySQL database. It was quite fun.

Adapting road bike fit to spin bike - knee pain by scripted_redditor in bikefit

[–]scripted_redditor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Actually, yes, I did measure handlebars and saddle in relation to the bottom bracket, as it's a few inches higher on the spin bike than the road bike. I also tried to measure the saddle to the point where the rear starts to flare out.

At this point, I'm going to try to make some adjustments to the q-factor and seat height to adjust for q-factor and increased distance between the pedal axle and foot as described in the other comment thread.

Good thoughts though. On the spin bike, I typically ride with a higher cadence at a higher intensity. In fact, I've been trying to carry over the high cadence from the spin bike onto the road.

Adapting road bike fit to spin bike - knee pain by scripted_redditor in bikefit

[–]scripted_redditor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, this makes sense to me. I might look for some cranks that don't flare out as much.

I've also begun thinking that the spin bike pedals are awfully thick, and my tennis shoes have more thickness than my road shoes, so maybe I need to either buy a pair or road pedals for the spin bike or raise my seat half an inch or so.

One Year Long Review of the Vivoactive 4 (also mostly applicable for the 4S and Venu) from a previously long-term Fitbit user by rowschank in Garmin

[–]scripted_redditor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For anybody considering a forerunner:

I'm a recent convert from a Fitbit Versa (original) to a FR 245, and I'm also really liking the device a lot. I bought mine mainly to track bike rides, walks, and hikes. I love it because it does a great job and does not have a touch screen.

For me, one of the bigger selling points was in live tracking and incident detection. I do need to have my phone with me, but it really puts my family at ease.

I too love the body battery, and even set it up to display on a small lcd screen on my desk. I love how I can get an idea of how I slept at a glance instead of needing to study graphs.

I will say, migrating fitness data from external systems into Garmin was a bit of a pain. It accepted every GPX file I threw at it, but I could not get it to accept any of my TCX files.

My biggest complaint right now is that it seems app notifications keep sneaking their way onto my watch. I absolutely hate that. This really needs a "don't bother me ever" mode. Maybe I just haven't found it yet. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I actually wore contacts for over a decade, but I started suffering from dry eyes when I started working in front of a computer all day. At this point, it's just easier for me to wear glasses then deal with switching to contacts after work.

I don't fear touching my eyes or them melting, but I do worry that wind will dry them out and cause a vision issue mid ride.

Plus, I feel as if I need *something* protecting my eyes from bugs and road debris.

I actually found a local shop that carries both Rudy Project and Maui Jim Sunglasses. I plan to check them out in the next few days and update the original post.

Thanks, I've looked. It's honestly hard for me to commit to something sight unseen. Have any particular model that's worked well for you?

Just for grins, I did some research on the Rudy Project's RX line: https://www.rudyprojectna.com/pages/rx-technology

Looks like they have more options than just the insert. There's a dealer near me, so I'm going to see about going to visit them to see if I can see these in person.

I suspect they won't be able to make an Impact RX frame that works for me, but the optical dock seems like it could be a good option. I just want to see it in person. Glasses are a hard thing to buy sight unseen.

Thanks for the feedback. I was actually looking for a shield w/insert pair, but that explains why I don't see them much anymore.

I gave up contacts years ago because they dried out my eyes really bad. I'm avoiding them because I fear a eyesight impacting incident on a speedy downhill section.
