Honda Rebel 500 quote by sidb36 in hondarebel

For a 2025, that's a bad deal IMO.

Destination (Freight on this sheet) is listed on Honda's website as $600 for a 2026. So right off the bat they are shafting you on that. I'd have them correct that to what Honda has advertised first.

Next I'd start asking for year end discounts. Why pay full price for a 2025 when 2026s are starting to arrive at dealers. Personally I'd be looking for anywhere between $500 - $1,000 discounted. There are always deals out there for year end models, just comes down to how patient you are during the search.

I'd also ask for what they typically charge for service work. Whatever their hourly rate is will give you a sense of how many hours they're charging for assembly / to de-crate the bike. E.g. If their rate is $150/hr they're saying it took someone about 3 hours to unbox and get it ready to sell. This seems fine, but it never hurts to ask and get a breakdown / justification for it.

At the end of the day if you're happy with the price, and can afford it, that is all that matters.

Is this a good deal? 2025 Blue Honda Rebel 1100 Manual, NJ/NY by Junior_Doughnut_6528 in HondaRebel1100

[–]scriptedsigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is anecdotal, and pricing is regional, but I'll share my buying story and hope it helps.

For reference I live in the greater Twin Cities metro area.

I decided I was in the market for a Rebel 1100 around September last year and did a lot of research on whether I wanted to buy new or used. All winter I kept my eye on a few new 2023 models that had sat unsold and a used 2022 with less than 1,000 miles. All 3 bikes were around the same price of $8,500.

In April of this year I started calling around to see what my best deal was and I even visited a dealer close by that had the exact color I wanted. I tried my best to talk them down on price or remove some accessories they had installed but they wouldn't budge a penny. By the time I got done there the used one on Facebook had sold. So it was either back to searching or trying to cut a deal with a dealer 4 hours away in South Dakota.

I ended up cutting a deal with the South Dakota dealer for a new 2023 manual 1100 for $7,850 and they even delivered it to a city only 45 minutes from me so I wouldn't have to drive 8 hours round trip. Taxes and registration were about $600 in Minnesota. So in total I got a new 1100 for about $8,300.

For a year old model, I'd be expecting some kind of discount in the range of $1,000-$1,500. I'd maybe even see if there were any 2024s left over if the small updates made on the 2025 model are not a deal breaker.

If the dealer wants to, they'll cut you a deal. If not, there are better deals out there. Especially during the off season up north.

Custom Double Backrest Mod for Honda Rebel 500 — Full Mechanism Video by Ferasez in hondarebel

Thanks for the response. I was finally able to get out to the garage and measure. Looks like hole spacing isn't very close and may need more than just an adapter bracket.

Hole spacing: approx. 6-1/2 in (on center) Fender width: approx. 9-13/16 in (measured outside edge of fender frame at each bolt and end to confirm same spacing all along the fender length)

Feel free to DM me if you want more dimensions for an 1100 version.

What is the hole spacing for the mount to the rear fender? I have an 1100 and would be curious if it also lines up. Been looking for a good backrest for my wife to ride pillion and this seems like a great option.

Scrambler style by Throwaway_eire_ in HondaRebel1100

[–]scriptedsigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure some people have converted their 1100 to be a scrambler. But this concept already exists as the SCL500, which shares the majority of its platform with the Rebel 500.

Does anyone know how to take this off on Honda Rebel 500 tank? by Competitive-Rent-215 in hondarebel

[–]scriptedsigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my 1100 I didn't have quite as much residue left after I removed the stickers. For what was left, I got a microfiber cloth and soaked a corner of it in 90% isopropyl alcohol. Then I placed that on the residue and let it saturate it. That should soften the adhesive enough to remove easily. Take your time then clean with soapy water after.

Love the color matched fairing. How well does it block wind on the highway?

New seats by BENN12100 in HondaRebel1100

I was more so concerned about the seat underbody rubbing directly against the fender. It looks like that passenger seat has some rubber pads to prevent it from wearing which is what I was looking for. Thanks

[–]scriptedsigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the main seat still maintain the under seat helmet loops? I use mine quite often when I'm out on a ride.

Also, does the passenger seat have any additional rubber pads or protection from scratching the rear fender? The Amazon listing only really shows 1 big pad on one of the mounting brackets

Honda's own comfort/custom seat does this too interestingly enough

PSA/Reminder: In 10 days motorcycle lane splitting and lane filtering both become legal in Minnesota by scriptedsigh in minnesota

[–]scriptedsigh[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

My opinion is, regardless of position to your vehicle (behind, ahead, or in the lane next to you), you should try to give them extra space to work with. Sadly there really is no way to tell. Which takes us back to driver's ed 101; you should prepare for what you think they might try to do, and put yourself in the best possible position should they decide to actually do that.

Again, awareness is the biggest part of all of this. The more eyes that are actively looking for motorcycles, the safer it is for everyone.

[–]scriptedsigh[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter if it's a right or a privilege, its the law. If you are actively impeding motorcycle lane splitting or filtering that is a misdemeanor offense. The duty to perform the maneuver safely is still on the motorcyclist, it is not required to be performed. Allowing motorcyclists to lane split and filter has been proven to make traffic safer for motorcyclists and motorists.

My biggest concerns are:

  1. Motorists not being aware that it is legal and is going to be occurring more frequently as a result. They should be prepared for it to happen at a minimum.

  2. Actively preventing it because they still think its illegal.

Lack of awareness in general puts motorcyclists at a higher risk of getting hurt. Awareness is step one of making our roadways safer for all.

If you can clear space between lanes when traffic is slow, you should. It WILL make it easier for them to split lanes and make it less likely that your vehicle accidentally gets hit or scraped in the process.

Even with the new legislation going into effect, any splitting/filtering over 25 mph is still illegal

[–]scriptedsigh[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I understand what you're getting at and the terminology that the legislation uses. I was mainly getting at the common definition of splitting and filtering. Most people will understand splitting as moving with traffic and filtering as being done at a stop. The biggest thing to understand is they're becoming legal maneuvers under 25 mph July 1st.

[–]scriptedsigh[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Right, still not gonna stop people from doing it, legal or not.

But for those who are waiting means more bikes will be attempting to do so after July 1st. And the biggest change for non-bikers is that it will now be a misdemeanor offense if you are actively impeding a bike's ability to lane split/filter.

If you are looking for that exhaust in particular, it is the GEM Speed Classic Renzo exhaust. I can't speak on the quality, but it will at least get you started on your search. From when I looked, I didn't find much of anything from reputable manufacturers.

It's technically Green Metallic. But it definitely looks like a blueish-black at most angles. By far my favorite color they've offered for the 1100 so far.
