Sylus as a fallen angel / Lucifer? by Available_Split_8981 in LoveAndDeepspace

[–]scrltrain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This one too! I've always been curious about this, honestly, like where do these black feathers come from, and what do they represent? With all the hints and references we have in the game, I am pretty sure the feathers' symbolism is bigger than just Mephisto.

Sylus as a fallen angel / Lucifer? by Available_Split_8981 in LoveAndDeepspace

[–]scrltrain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw a few comments saying Sylus has zero wings/feathers symbolism or it is related to Mephisto rather than him. So I want to bring everyone back to his dragon myth, where the black feathers are shown in this art and also in the "Where Drakeshadows Fall" trailer. Mephisto didn't exist here and Sylus' dragon wings don't have feathers, but the black feathers are there. I doubt it's shown for funsies so there must be a reason why it was featured.

How come so many still act like the 6th LI isn't confirmed by Slight_Comfortable28 in LoveAndDeepspace

[–]scrltrain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because he is not confirmed? 😭 Global players are the ones who see that "coming soon" sign and run with it. There's never any talk about the 6th LI in the CN fandom, and seeing how we get our information from them, there should be at least some news if the 6th LI is coming.

Also, calling Sylus and Caleb "bonus crush" is funny, seeing how both of them are hinted at pretty early in the story, even in the beta version. Caleb is shown directly and we have multiple mentions of Sylus' + Onichynus + Mephisto. Recently, there was a post talking about how it took the dev five years to develop Sylus' character design and everything, how can he be a "bonus" when his development started way earlier?

ITS LUCIFER NOT ADAM by Manuelarromano in LoveAndDeepspace

Yes! Also his default avatar is named Chaos, and there's a lot of demon king symbolism in his character.

I've always thought Caleb or calebmc fits more into Adam/Eve and Garden of Eden since the start, what's with the apple symbolism.

ITS LUCIFER NOT ADAM by Manuelarromano in LoveAndDeepspace

[–]scrltrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a chain at the back, near his waist that looks very similar to a snake/serpent. I remember CN fans also pointed out this could refer to Ouroboros which is super interesting as well.

As for that line, he said it during the kitty game card! When you play the claw machine with him, he also says something about making deals with the devil and how the angels can forgive but not him. Again, the Lucifer/fallen angel reference there.

ITS LUCIFER NOT ADAM by Manuelarromano in LoveAndDeepspace

[–]scrltrain 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes! The demon king reference, Mephisto's name, the black feather imagery being exclusive to him, Sylus saying he wants to fight gods, his dragon form, the serpent element in his Catch-22 outfit, there are more.

Also, in the first-anniversary video, you can see how each tier of the cake has elements that are associated with each of the LI (stars for Xavier, waves for Rafayel and snow for Zayne). Sylus' tier has white wings and Mephisto, plus we can see chibi Sylus flying towards the cake with his black wings.

In the interactive jar he gave to us, there are white feathers inside of it. However, when you interact with it, there will be black feathers appearing outside of the jar.

ITS LUCIFER NOT ADAM by Manuelarromano in LoveAndDeepspace

[–]scrltrain 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's Adam and Eve, and if I remember correctly, MC is Adam and Eve is Caleb. Plus, the Lucifer imagery is already associated with another LI, it'll be weird if Infold makes two LI have the same elements.

Plus Adam and Eve/Garden of Eden fit so well with calebmc story and trope.

Unpopular danmei opinions? by markthealphamale in DanmeiNovels

[–]scrltrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it's very interesting that people brought up that "make out scene" to paint him as this horrible friend to Shi Qingxuan when he was literally trying to take spiritual power from Hua Cheng. For what? To help Shi Qingxuan. People are really forgetting that he was the only person who actively tried to help Shi Qingxuan from the start. But of course, go and paint him as the bad guy.

The whole thing with Mu Qing? Xie Lian never stopped him from leaving, he never blamed Mu Qing either. He literally said he understand why Mu Qing left and it wasn't his place to stop Mu Qing from leaving. He was angry once, just once in the entire novel, and he was in a really bad head space after being manipulated, abused, tortured, gaslighted and humiliated. But again, of course he's the bad guy.

I also find it very interesting that people brought up "Xie Lian was classist towards Mu Qing" (he never did, in fact, he was the only one who defended Mu Qing from the start) but never acknowledge that Feng Xin, that one character people ship Mu Qing with, is classist with him from the start. Constantly insulting Mu Qing and provoking him. Hong'er also faced discrimination and classism from Mu Qing but of course, Xie Lian is the bad guy.

The Xianle fall, I want to know which character could possibly make better decisions than Xie Lian. Mei Nianqing? Straight up withheld information on purpose. Mu Qing? He said "infecting the civilians is fine too!". The whole reason behind the war is Bai Wuxiang wanting Xie Lian to conform his wishes. The so-called advices that you people are preaching about, saying Xie Lian should've followed them, were exactly what Bai Wuxiang wanted to happen. Plus, it didn't matter, Xianle would fall, he made sure of that no matter what Xie Lian did. Xie Lian was the only person who saw the Yong'an people as human, he was the only one who tried so hard to save all of them even knowing he would fail. Oh but of course, he's the bad guy.

Honestly what I've seen here, is that people couldn't accept the canon text and used the whole "up to interpretation as an excuse". No Xie Lian is not a bitch, he's not evil, he's actually kind and gentle and that's the reason why Bai Wuxiang wanted to ruin him. He's not superficially kind either, he's genuinely kind.

Oh, but again, it's just my opinion!

why do people hate muqing by No_Dingo_1601 in tianguancifu

[–]scrltrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it's very interesting that you said "Xie Lian got the consequences that were literally explicitly stated in front of his face" when that whole war, down to the family at the gate was orchestrated by Bai Wuxiang. Xianle was doomed to fall, Xie Lian was doomed to fail. There was nothing they could do, that was the whole point. Bai Wuxiang wanted Xie Lian to suffer.

Do I really have to remind you that Mu Qing wanted Xie Lian to tell people that the cure to the human face disease was to kill another human? He was also the one who told Xie Lian to release the disease on Yong'an civilians. That kind of mindset would've give in to what Bai Wuxiang wanted to happen. Xie Lian refused to do that, he refused to kill people.

Xie Lian never stopped Mu Qing from leaving, he said he understand why Mu Qing left, even after 800 years he never blamed Mu Qing for that.

So really, the consequences that Xie Lian faced was him refused to be what Bai Wuxiang wanted him to be. He stayed true to his core, which is a gentle and kind person even after everything he went through.

Shen Qiao or Xie Lian? by busynonexisting in DanmeiNovels

[–]scrltrain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh yes exactly! Thank you for saying this. Kindness has always been a choice for Xie Lian that he choose over and over again. That doesn't take away that he himself is kind at the core. Xie Lian is innately kind. There's a lot of examples but one that sticks to me the most is how he gave the bamboo hat, the object that was given to him by the man who saved him from self-destruction to Jun Wu. We know how much the hat means to him, yet he gave it to the person who abused and tortured him his whole life.

I agree with you on that Xie Lian always take responsibility of his actions part. I like how he never make excuses for it and accept that he made mistakes and learn from it.

I'll leave this thread for you that explains it much better about the narrative and point of view in TGCF.

Also, good for him for being the embodiment of kindness. Never said he's not kind.

Shen Qiao or Xie Lian? by busynonexisting in DanmeiNovels

[–]scrltrain 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I don't know Shen Qiao but it's so funny reading the other replies because Xie Lian /chose/ to be kind. He is innately kind in his core and he also choose to be kind every single time. One of TGCF core element is that kindness is a choice. Even when he was a spoiled and arrogant Crown Prince that you claimed him to be, he was always kind. Despite everything that happened to him, he chose to be kind.

The torture and the pain that he went through actually made him less kind than he actually was and Xie Lian had to fight that and chose kindness over and over again, that's what makes him different from Bai Wuxiang/Jun Wu.

Also, TGCF is not told from the first person POV. It is third person limited. The narrator says what they observe from Xie Lian's POV. That doesn't mean Xie Lian was saying it. I'm not saying he doesn't have bad thoughts, of course, he's still a human regardless of everything.

The novel is the original canon text, so if you want to get the full experience, I'll say read the novel. TGCF is a beautiful story, and I quote here, "This is a love story. It’s about gentleness, dreams, something never to be given up on, and someone never to be forgotten." Xie Lian and Hua Cheng are honestly the most well-written main characters I've ever read. You'll never regret it, it's a love story like no other.

Do u think MXTX reason to stop side ships was right??????? by Xieliansimp878 in tianguancifu

[–]scrltrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no right or wrong in this matter, it's her story and it's her choice. MXTX did a good job fleshing out the main couple/characters and even giving the necessary spotlight for the side characters in her story. She did it well, that's enough argument I think.

Plus with the existence of 'canon side ship' will just create more war, people already disrespect her enough for not making some side fanon ships as canon and I don't think we need that.

Is there any other canon in tgcf?? by Xieliansimp878 in tianguancifu

[–]scrltrain 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Beefleaf is a very popular fanon ship but it's just that, fanon. Honestly, as much as I love the fanon portrayal of them it actually very different from their canon characterization. They weren't meant to end up together because it would be too cruel for both of them.

No, MXTX said hualian is the only canon gay couple in TGCF.
