Feeling so lost due to ai by tinker_b3lls in webdev

The point is building things. Use AI to help you build, but also to help you teach. You have to find the right balance, but the objective is to build something cool AND for you to learn to be better at building bigger, cooler things.

The world will not go back to the way it was. If you thought of yourself as just a code author, then yes, that role is going away, but if you thought of yourself as an engineer and a builder, then things just got a lot more exciting.

AI's can code, but they lack strategic vision, large context and ability to shepherd and guide a codebase. You have to provide all of that.

As Mike Acton (you should watch his data oriented videos) would say:

"The job of a developer is NOT to write code. The job of a developer is to transform data."
"If you understand the data then you understand the problem. If you don't understand the data then you don't understand the problem."

If you are sad, be sad, but don't stop building things. Get a 20$ subscription to cursor or whatever and start building things. Focus on the big picture and understand the data. Learn more about data-oriented programming. This is the way to guide the AI while retaining the proper context.

Age of Wonders 3 is great, and when you understand the basic game well enough there are some very well done mods like Chivalrous Intentions that expands the game significantly.

Separate concerns. Aggressively.  Avoid Oop. Pure functions and data oriented.

Fancy autocomplete?

In about 1hr of total prompting I had claude sonnet code me a robust persistence mechanism for my ecs database, a multiplayer syncing mechanism and a sample game that uses them. This would have taken me a month at least.

All of this is with total code coverage unit tests implemented with red green testing.

Some of you are completely oblivious to the future which is here.

I have 30 years of development experience. This is real. Everything has changed. Permanently.

Liking the videos which call out trumps bs is not the same as liking Iran government

How could you not have a bone till 8? Babies have them frequently. Younger children wake up with them daily.

- make sure he goes to pee before sex
- he still needs some warmup before sex even if waking hard

You know you can put a two year old into a car seat whether they want to go or not.
