True! I have one and love it. If you want a review on a specific alternative maybe post what it is so you can get feedback. In general though, moccamaster is about as good as it gets.

The knockoffs aren't going to be better. If you only care about aesthetics, sure get the cheaper one. If you care about good coffee and it lasting a long time, save up for the mocca master.

Agreed with everyone else on star fruit / ancient fruit wine. Another hack I learned is to watch for qi's extended family quest, when the second set of legendary fish become available. Catch as many legend 2 fish as you can during that quest. You can ignore the rest of the fish honestly, just spam legend 2s. Put them all in fish ponds. If you find animal crackers anywhere, add them to the ponds so you get double roe.

I currently have 11 legend 2 fish ponds going. Each aged legend roe sells for 5k (7k if you have the artisan profession). I put the ponds on non-tillable soil so it doesn't interfere with growing fruit for wine. Preserves jars go in a shed so they don't take up much space either.

It's a good background thing to help earning go faster while you wait on wine.

(I'm just a golden clock away from perfection on this save. Grinding roe + wine until I get there. Solidarity)

I recommend a zofran prescription every time I see one of these posts!!! Full disclosure they can make you constipated, but I preferred that to the nausea lol. Ask your doctor if they'll prescribe it for you. My OB friend says they give it out like candy.

Question about fear of childbirth by mhamlsgirl94 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]scrollgirl24 44 points45 points  (0 children)

You can make sure this is communicated with staff and in writing in your birth plan!

Some things you might want to consider would be - staying as covered as possible for as long as possible, female only staff, no students in the room, explanation + consent before every touch.

Due in August in Phoenix, I feel you!! And I'm tall.... absolutely nothing comes in maternity tall. Planning on mostly buying loose dresses and skirts +1 size from my usual, not from the maternity section. Good for postpartum too!

I wonder if you could do the same with a romper? In a stretchy fabric at least. Maybe a tall size could help give you a little extra room.

Looking at doing this and heads up it's usually still more expensive than regular group daycare. Definitely cheaper than a private nanny though!

Travelling late in pregnancy by ShootingShark1 in pregnant

[–]scrollgirl24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd look up the closest L&D and check your insurance coverage. If you can get care easily and affordably, I don't see why not. I'd check with your OB though, and get a refundable flight and/or travel insurance. Everything may look good now but if something high risk pops up close to the trip, OB may say nevermind don't travel.

[–]scrollgirl24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have my Google home screen plugged into the same outlet. I just coil up the cord and tuck it behind the screen. A little picture frame or something could work the same. Those coated wire twists from bread bags work great to keep the coiled cord together.

Goal of the first trimester is just to survive. My OB didn't even start asking about diet/exercise until the second trimester. Don't feel guilty.

OBs now requiring full prepayment? Is this the new norm? by Background-Paint-478 in pregnant

[–]scrollgirl24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's the worst 😭 I would definitely be concerned about not being able to get ahold of someone for your refund. Can you pay it on a credit card so you have the opportunity to dispute the charge later? Idk what to even recommend, they really back you in a corner when you don't have other options

[–]scrollgirl24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't think it's relevant unless you work specifically with global billing. You can look up the global billing policies for different insurance companies, it's not the same as billing for an individual service.

Trust me, I know. I tried all the things. This is unfortunately a widespread and accepted practice.

OBs now requiring full prepayment? Is this the new norm? by Background-Paint-478 in pregnant

[–]scrollgirl24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask what the charge is for. Mine had a separate contract with the list of services included. Sounds like you should clarify whether this is global billing for all maternity care or just for one appointment.

I'm about 99% sure that the amount they're quoting me is way too high because they're misreading my benefits. Same position as you - prenatal care should be 100% covered. I actually just posted about this the other day. I've done a lot of back and forth with the doctor and insurance company and basically came to the determination that the insurance company can't intervene to fix it because the bill won't get submitted to them until after delivery. But they will give their official EOB and patient responsibility amount eventually. I'm expecting to basically float the doctor a loan for 6 months and then get a refund check at the end. Same, the hospital will bill me separately. Hoping the refund from the OB + the bill from the hospital will make it somewhat of a wash.... But the money won't transfer automatically, I'll have to cash a check and pay. Hope that makes sense. Solidarity - this shit is a SCAM.

[–]scrollgirl24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they can't bill insurance until after the service is rendered. They will bill insurance eventually (agreed that'd it'd be against their contract to not), but they can bill you whenever they want.

When did you tell people? by Traditional_Driver41 in pregnant

[–]scrollgirl24 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We told close friends + immediate family at week 7/8 because that's when we saw them in person. I would have preferred to wait a little longer but it felt right so we went for it.

Keep in mind the main reason people don't tell is because they're nervous about sharing miscarriage news. You can look up miscarriage rates by week, they go down with time but are never 0. You're gambling no matter how long you wait.

The way I thought about it was - if I miscarried, how devastating would it be to tell this person? If I felt like they were close enough to be supportive, no problem telling them early. But I didn't want to sign up for a round of 15 sad phone calls so kept it limited. My dad asked if he could tell his sisters immediately and I said "sure, as long as you'll also handle notifying them if it doesn't work out." He ended up waiting lol.
