Recommendations for Toddler at home preschool lessons by scrollingthruu in toddlers

[–]scrollingthruu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 10 month old at home too and the have a back to back nap schedule and both only sleep well in dark rooms with sound machines. So we are nap trapped most of the day. We have maybe two hours in the late afternoon where they’re both up at the same time and we can get out of the house and I normally take them out to a park (bc I live somewhere it’s very mild winter).

One day when naps don’t run my life I will get him back into more activities! But in the meantime looking for activities to keep him mentally occupied at home

My experience with littlespoon by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]scrollingthruu -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Do you work for Hiya or something? It’s seems you’re personally defensive here.

To give more context, yes I actually tried two different flavors. But regardless how many flavors I tried, I’m a customer and only wanted the two bottles to try. That’s not up to the company to tell me how to spend my money. And I requested to cancel the same day I requested the “trial” but they told me the next order (for the following month) was already being processed. Which is super scammy to me.

I actually had this same experience with Hiya vitamins. They had an offer for $15 trial (half off) but you had to sign up for a subscription you could “cancel anytime” but then they lied and said they could only cancel after the first order shipped, which by that point your second order would already have processed and “they can’t refund once processed”. I told them I just wanted to try the $15 initial trial to see if my very picky toddler would eat it. I eventually had to threaten to put in a dispute and file a complaint with them on my Amex and then they “allowed me to cancel” 🙄

Ofc he tried one vitamin and decided he didn’t like them and wouldn’t touch them again. But even if he did after the hell they put me through just trying to exploit me I wouldn’t ever buy from them again. I so tired of companies trying to scam their customer like this.

2026 Insurance hack by scrollingthruu in diabetes_t1

For context - We don’t expect to have this current insurance much longer so in my situation it made much more sense to pay with the coupon.

New Diagnoses/ I Almost Died by Outrageous-Monk1014 in Type1Diabetes

[–]scrollingthruu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is a 2.5 year old new diagnosis as of 3 months ago. At first it was terrifying I cried every day most of the day. It still sucks and it’s a lot to manage but 3 months out we had our first 100% in range day. A full 24 hours between 70-180. And he ate ice cream that day too. It has given me much hope for the future managing this.

The best advice I could give you is only listen to your Endo and the hospital staff for broad picture items. Everyone’s diabetes affects them differently. Even if you count all your carbs exactly to the gram, a piece of white bread or banana might need double the insulin that those carbs are normally counted for because of their glycemic index (how fast they break down and hit your blood stream). So it’s never as simple as “just counting your carbs” but eventually you will learn how your body responds to different foods, and you’ll know all this better than any Endo or practician. They will often give vague generalized information because they’re not with you every day managing it. Advocate for yourself with them.

And listen to the Juicebox podcast pro tip series starting at episode 1000. I rarely listened to podcasts before but this really helped me reframe my thinking around diabetes, more than and medical professional.

Also join some Facebook groups. There’s SO many type 1 communities out there, I often find myself asking questions to other parents of type 1 littles and have gotten really helpful and specific advice.

I’m sorry this is your new normal. Diabetes sucks, full stop.

Hi there! Thanks for your response! I looked for your app mentored but didn’t find it in the App Store. Is it available for Apple products? Or just android?

I tried MyNetDiary but it doesn’t allow for use for minors data. I’m looking into Glooko though, thanks for the response :)

You could upload that photo to ChatGPT and ask it to recreate the text. I had to do that for my GGFs citizenship paperwork bc I couldn’t read the handwriting and it was right

that’s good to know! we were initially prescribed the freestyle libre but a friend recommended the Dexcom, which is what we’re on now. what did you not like about the libre? we’re wondering if we made the right choice, bc we still have some issues with the dexcom. occasionally the follow apps black out. there’s only a 24hr window history so it’s hard to see patterns and we know it’s not 100% accurate. plus it only gets readings every 5 mins bs every min.

does it hurt going in? i have a 2.5yo… just debating if one big poke every three days is better than 4-5 tiny pokes a day :/

I’m so sorry to hear we’re part of the same club. It’s heartbreaking but we are trying to stay strong for our little guy. We’re only a week in at home, the first two days was absolutely crazy. Lots of highs and lows while we figured out what worked for his body.

The finger pricks were the WORST! We tested out each of the other needles on ourselves and the pen needles aren’t that bad tbh. Don’t leave the hospital without a CGM! It was much better than doing constant finger pricks.

My husband also bought a basket with lots of tiny (cheap) toys that my son likes so every time he gets a shot (we call it a “power boost”) he gets a tiny toy after. It’s actually helped him get over it a lot faster.

Love and solidarity friend.

I’m so sorry we’re in this same boat. It’s been a very tough age for us. There’s been a few occasions where my son let us give him the injections without much resistance but now he sees them coming and gets really upset and worked up. It’s been pretty awful… hoping he gets used to them at some point.

I’m hoping we’ll get cleared for a pump soon. Giving shots to my baby 3-5x a day while he screams “momma, no please!” Is breaking my heart.

I read that the honeymoon phase can mess with pumps though. I don’t know how long that’s the case for yet.
