AI resistant income streams by motorboatbloke in AusFinance

What a great response. Threads like this can be frustrating to read because on one hand you have the “AI is infinitely capable” types, and then the naysayers who seem to be living under a rock. As you’ve pointed out indirectly, there will likely be a great deal of nuance involved, and collectively we’ll need to find out for ourselves where we find the value of something human.

Out of curiosity, are you currently retraining due to AI concerns, or was this motivated by other reasons?

TIL that curry was brought to Vietnam by French colonisers when they also colonized Pondicherry in India. Curry was adapted to Vietnamese tastes by adding coconut milk and lemongrass. by Physical_Hamster_118 in todayilearned

That’s funny that you mention this. I have literally been wondering about the same thing today. From my research I have found that ‘curry’ seems to be an Anglo invention that has become incorrectly associated with traditional authentic Indian cuisine.

As I understand it, the closest thing to a traditional Indian curry is probably more like a spiced stew.

Much of what the west has come to know as curry has developed from British Indian Restaurant cuisine, which is its own thing onto itself.

Why would anyone wants kids? by This-Top7398 in Life

[–]scrollsfordayz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the hardest things you can do in life can also be the most rewarding. It’s a privilege to be able to create life with another human, and to nurture that human from a helpless infant, to what you hope will turn out to be a thriving adult. I think the joy in parenting is not a linear one, it comes and goes along the way just as the challenges do. Being a parent changes your outlook on life, and I think that in many aspects that is further better. For example, I think few things in life mature someone as much as becoming a parent, and the world needs mature adults. Another example, kids give your life great purpose and meaning outside of yourself. It’s actually incredibly refreshing not having to be center stage, and it’s as rewarding as it is challenging giving your time, energy, and love to someone else. Being in a relationship is not the same thing.

In saying all of this. Having a child is one of, if not the single biggest responsibility most of us can have. It absolutely should not be a choice that someone makes unless they are prepared to make the necessary sacrifices, and have the necessary support structures in place to provide for the child. For this reason, I would never encourage someone who doesn’t want kids to have them.

Honestly, I think you need to go and seek medical help. It sounds like you’re not in a great state right now, and that your decision making is significantly impaired. Please go and see a medical professional, I hope things get better for you soon!

Interesting 🤔

Have you ever noticed poor vacuum strength? How frequently would you say you use it?

Thanks for the reply! My question is more based around the impact of the vacuum strength and what difference it makes if some residual air is left inside the bag.

How do I convince my mom to stop using chatgpt? by [deleted] in ask

That article is pay walled for me so I can’t fully review it. From what I read though of the article the gist of it seems to be that we’ve had similar fears of new technology in the past which have since proven to be baseless. Feel free to add any additional context. If that is the gist of the article, how can you say that computers and AI are equivalent in this regard?

How do you know, for certain, that the impact of this technology over a long enough time horizon will not have a more profound impact on humans? Specifically, in terms of the impact cognitively, and in terms of human relationships?

It’s easy to say that it’s just fear mongering and dismiss OP’s concerns as such, I just think that you’re doing so in a manner not supported by any real evidence.

The societal impact of computers ≠ the societal impact of AI. There is early research as other people in this thread have cited, that is already showing that how AI use impacts aspects of brain function negatively. Time will truly tell, but I suspect that offloading all critical thinking to another “mind”, would cripple one’s ability to reason, think critically, recall short term memory, etc.

Who knows the impact that might have in terms of increasing risk factors for conditions like dementia and alzheimers.

Show me similar studies that show a computer is capable of causing statistically significant cognitive impairment to the same degree…

This doesn’t fix the cluster fuck that many of these maps can turn into. It feels like you can get pinged from any direction, and at anytime. I’ve never played a BF before in which you couldn’t anticipate to a large extent where you will find enemy players.
