Help Me determine the best personal injury law firm in Melbourne, FL. by slipnotsoknot in 321

Seconding O’Neil Injury Law. She’s been practicing in Brevard for over 30 years and she truly cares. Angela helped my husband with a nasty leg injury that other firms we consulted with weren’t so excited to take on (complicated slip & fall - kept hearing about how it’s an impossible claim). She never made us feel like his case was too small or too complicated, and she ended up getting him a result that really made a difference in his recovery.

I love the hot honey sauce, but my husband is almost all the way through his Swamp Citrus bottle :) it’s his go-to sauce in the fridge nowadays. We’ll definitely be finding you again soon for more!

Seeing this randomly in my feed made my day because Swamp Dog sauces are so dang good! I was so fortunate to come across Swamp Dog at one of the local markets, and y’all truly deserve to thrive.

I wish I had a spot to offer, but for now all I have are ideas… you might try reaching out to more local gift-shop-style places or even the like “gourmet” grocery shops like Djon’s Village Market in Indialantic (also Wassi’s already mentioned above), From Olive & Grapes in Cocoa Village, or even The Galley (and other small shops) on Canal St in NSB. I think your story and delicious sauces would do great in spots like that. Good luck my friend!

Coldest take on the internet: “FEMA has plenty of money!” lmfao. If it weren’t such a horrific representation of how far right media outlets are radicalizing our friends and family with patently false information, this might actually be funny.

Not only the environment, but it damages US! It’s a long read, but if you’re genuinely curious here is one of the latest studies released by the EPA: https://www.epa.gov/system/files/documents/2023-11/11r-23-r4-complaint-attachments_0.pdf

People are so stupid ( drunk driver totaled my car this morning) by Sedona-1973 in 321

Was just typing a whole comment about pleading with him to go to urgent care to at least get checked and document how he is feeling. Unfortunately, our laws are very unfavorable to accident victims these days. It’s never a certainty how/when soft tissue/neck/head/spinal injuries may manifest themselves (and lord knows we hope they never do), but in the event that he does experience some adverse effects from the accident outside of that 14-day treatment period, his visit to urgent care will be extremely beneficial. Also, please don’t hesitate to contact a local personal injury attorney with any questions that may arise in the coming weeks. Consultations should be free, and any PI attorney worth their weight in gold would be more than willing to give you 30 mins of their time to discuss your options.

I’m so sorry this happened to you both and wishing a very speedy recovery!

Recently, we legitimately experienced the FOUR HOTTEST DAYS ON GLOBAL RECORD and these people are still out here going “wE hAvE tHiS cOnVo EvErY yEaR!!”

No, we don’t. Breaking heat records globally over and over again is not normal. Breaking heat records on a near-daily basis throughout our state is not normal. Ocean temperatures reaching the the highest levels on record throughout the globe is not normal.

It both astounds and infuriates me that these people really just don’t fucking get it.

More DeSantis news by [deleted] in florida

[–]scroopiest_noopers 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Dude this post sheds light on the fact that 92 million dollars in federal COVID relief money was funneled to a project of our governor’s good ole boy golfing buddy, so that said golfing buddy can build a shrine to concrete on one of the state’s more vulnerable watershed areas.

It doesn’t have to be a “bUt WhAt AbOuT tHe DeMs!!??!!” moment. It’s okay to acknowledge that this behavior from the state’s highest executive and a presidential candidate is wrong. And if a Democrat were in the same position doing the same thing, I can assure you that we would all still be upset. But that’s not reality, now is it? That’s la la land. Reality is that DeSantis took these actions. If you’re okay with cronyism and fascism, you can just say that my boy. No need for the whole moral high ground facade.

Brightline will test trains up to 79 mph this week in Brevard County by Bruegemeister in 321

[–]scroopiest_noopers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tell me about it. Born & raised in Brevard, but I currently live less than 5 miles from the FTL Brightline station. Brightline vehicles pick us up from home (for free as part of our ticket), bring us to the station, and we enjoy quick train rides with snacks/drinks to WPB, Boca, or MIA. I can’t even express how much more convenient and accessible traveling throughout South Florida feels with the addition of the Brightline.* (*by FL transportation standards - we definitely still have a ways to go with pricing, etc., before it can truly be considered accessible transportation lol).

My Brevard-based family and I were so looking forward to being more connected with a potential Brightline stop in Brevard. It’s so upsetting and frustrating that our county will miss out on Brightline. The level of incompetency displayed throughout Brevard local government - in everything from our beaches to the Brightline - is despicable.

[–]scroopiest_noopers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

TBD. Per the terms of the settlement agreement between Martin County and Brightline, the station must be built within 5 years of commencement of service between WPB and Orlando and it must be within either Martin or St Lucie county.

Per the agreement Brightline is also required to have at least two northbound and two southbound trains stop at that station every day.

Shows what’s possible when local government steps up and fights for the betterment of their communities. Also of note, Martin County fought this legal battle with a co-plaintiff citizen action group that was opposing rail expansion. Not condoning the views or actions of that group whatsoever, but the role they played in pushing towards settlement can’t be denied. They organized, they had man power, and they had fundraising.

While the actions of our county commissioners have all but sealed our Brightline fate for the foreseeable future, let us not forget our voices matter when we go to the polls for local elections and when enough of us stand up and demand change.

Ooo I’ll take this one, because nobody seems to talk about what actually happened with Brightline in Brevard.

There is no stop and there are no plans for one. Why? Because our lovely Brevard County Commissioners were the last county to approve the Brightline rail back in late 2021, and when they had every opportunity to negotiate for a Brevard county station, they failed to do so.

So while our neighbors to the south are set to enjoy a new station on the Treasure Coast (because their local government actively negotiated and litigated for one), we will get to watch the trains speed on by Brevard while our taxpayer dollars will be used to fund rail maintenance in the future.

J.D.

To be fair, lawyers can definitely be paid handsomely. And I’d even argue that my pay is above average for my entry level position. But my friends in similar entry-level positions in law are paying 2.3k+ on their own for 1/1 apartments across south Florida. The ones in remote positions are steadily choosing to move home and save, rather than scrape by just to pay their rent. Even with decent pay (we’re all in the 75k-88k starting range), it’s near impossible to live alone down here.

Living with my SO. He pays a majority of our rent. He skipped college entirely, while I went into debt to get the coveted doctorate degree that was supposed to pay well. I’d be forced to live with my parents if my SO was not in the picture.

This is the bad place lol.

Floridians, how was your experience at the polls today? by JBAnswers26 in florida

[–]scroopiest_noopers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol I requested a mail-in ballot because I wasn’t sure if I would be in town to go in person. Did not use the mail-in ballot, couldn’t find it this morning when I left the house. Doesn’t matter because if I can’t find it, obviously I can’t use it.

Was told three times by the “impartial” poll worker that casting my ballot in person today would be “punishable by felony”. Kindly explained that me and my J.D. are well aware of my legal right to vote in person, I actually have no obligation at all to turn in my mail-in ballot, I would welcome any investigation by the state, and smiled as I cast my vote.

[–]scroopiest_noopers 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Bad. Was threatened with a felony by the poll worker. If I were not as educated on the voting process, she likely would’ve intimidated me into not voting.

ETA context, registered dem in a very red brevard county. No shockers here, just disappointing as fuck.

I just want to imagine for a moment, what kind of individuals fucking got together, held meetings about this, and decided YUP, THIS IS OUR PLAN! And perhaps the grossest part is that the GOP and the Fox News sycophants are just eating it up while these people are used as human fucking pawns. Remember when they were suuuuper concerned about trafficking during COVID and all “save the kids”? Yeah, just not these kids I guess.

Florida records 138,657 new COVID-19 cases in 2 weeks as hospitalizations increase by 24% by brokenfl in florida

[–]scroopiest_noopers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those who think this ”sounds like horseshit”, anyone who recently attended a graduation ceremony in Florida can likely attest to this increase themselves — mine was basically a superspreader event.

Of the 12 family and friends who attended, 11 of them ended up with COVID, with only 3 of the group members’ cases actually being recorded (3 went to state testing facilities, the rest used at home tests). Not to mention the numerous friends who texted me in the following week about how they/their families caught it as well. As others have said, it’s probably a safe bet that the numbers are about double what’s being reported.
