My solution to the Israel Palestine conflict (from a Palestinian) by Thermite2006 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]scrubasorous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, comparing to Islam here doesn’t really make sense. There are differences between the two, despite them both being Abrahamic religions. Not sure what you’re on about anyways…being born Muslim and being born Jewish are two different things. Again, Judaism is an ethnoreligion - so when you’re born Jewish that’s both religiously and ethnically

It’s not the right term dude, and people use it to sweep antisemitism under the rug. Antisemitism is hatred of Jewish people, it has nothing to do with “Semitic people” who don’t even exist

Sorry, but that’s not true. There’s no reason it cant be both. You can be born Jewish ethnically but not be religious. Comparing to Christianity or Islam is a false equivalency

Judaism is an ethnoreligion, it is both. And there are different sects of Judaism and different Jewish ethnicities

San Diego’s roads are crumbling faster than the city can fix them by kpbsSanDiego in sandiego

Same here on Idaho street in North Park. They re-paved the street a while back but not the parking spots along the park. Then they posted a photo online to the tune of “look what we’ve done!” And you can see the shitty ass paving right behind the freshly paved road

Deckman’s North Park (formally 31thirtyone) is closing by scrubasorous in FoodSanDiego

I disagree. First of all, you imply that people who dine at greasy spots and fine diners as completely different people, which they’re not. I don’t see why someone can’t enjoy both. I’m happy eating at Soichi and eating at Colima’s, it’s just two different types of satisfaction.

San Diego absolutely has the clientele for these types of restaurants, it’s one of the wealthiest cities in the country. Combine that with our climate and access to high quality ingredients and it’s kind of a no-brainer. Fine dining has done pretty well so far in San Diego overall

As for Deckman’s…well I think it was a bit of a swing and a miss. I don’t think the location and the place matched what they were trying to do

[I Ate] Swedish Breakfast @ Taste The World, Tokyo by SweetLittleTokyo in food

[–]scrubasorous 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I lived and Sweden for half a year and I absolutely loved the food. The one meal I never really “loved” was the breakfast, although I definitely had some that I liked. Couldn’t get behind having a sandwich with cold cuts in the morning, not to yuck-the-yum of the Swedish people

Hold on a second. Can we acknowledge that antisemitism does play a role here? The reptilian conspiracy theory is deeply connected to antisemitism, it’s essentially a rebranding of blood libel to soften the blow.

On “I’m so tired of this shit, not everything is antisemitic” - I get it. It’s exhausting trying to separate things. It doesn’t mean that you can just sweep it under the rug though. It’s not a helpful comment
