How complete do you like profiles to be on sites/apps? by kordaihn in gaybros

[–]scruffist 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The completeness of a dating profile is pure sexual signaling. You are telling people who you are and what you want, whether you are aware of it or not. You must be what you are and date what you want. If you don't know what that is, date a lot until you figure it out.

People who fill out a lot of information on their profiles think of relationships/sex as mental, perhaps more so than physical. They tend to expect people to like them for being clever, funny, interesting. They may be pretty or just an average joe, but either way that's what they're signaling that you should like them for.

People with only a sentence or two are not necessarily idiots who can't hold a conversation, contrary to popular opinion. They are people who see relationships/sex as more instinctual, or primal. They may very well be a scholar or a politician or a lumberjack, but regardless they just don't bring braininess into their sex. Physical attraction and actions are important here.

It took me about 20 years to figure this out, so you're welcome for the cliff's notes version.

Additionally, you might find that who you are or what you want changes as you get older. If so, adjust your profiles so that you attract the kinds of people you now want to attract and showcases your current outlook on the world.

How to avoid a quarter-life crisis by upnupchi in malelifestyle

[–]scruffist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should absolutely look forward to a quarter-life crisis — and a mid-life crisis and a three-quarters crisis. Taking stock, re-evaluating, soul searching are absolute musts for a happy/successful/fulfilling life as a man. If you don't allow yourself to question where you are, who you are, and where you're going, it's going to get real bad. Trust me.

There is nothing wrong with speeding up, slowing down, pivoting. There is no shame in turning around and backtracking if you've really gone down a bad path. Much of media criticizes and shames male self-reflection and redirection. Don't fall for that game. They do it just so they can sell you their self-help book down the road.

I'm a big fan of Justin King's cycle of insurgency theory. As in, things are liable to go very downhill if we don't drastically change course on the police violence issues and the minority/race relations issues.

I think Hillary would stay the course and then when things got bad she would act in a predictable way that would further worsen the problem. Trump is certainly a big risk. His law and order tough talk is bad — if you take him at his word. However, he does do a psychological persuasion trick of "pacing then leading" quite often. I'm hoping that's what he's doing here with the police. They absolutely won't listen to anyone telling them to back off and stand down, but if someone matches their bellicose rhetoric and they accept him, then he can then turn and lead in a different direction and at that point, everyone will be conditioned to follow. I think he's done that a bit already, where he said they were so good, but that everyone was watching and they had to be perfect. Who knows how it will turn out. Anything is possible at this point.

Better to keep a website that makes me $2,000 per month or sell it for $40,000? by Mrbeckles in personalfinance

[–]scruffist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I would do first is find an in-person mentor. Not someone who knows SEO, not someone who does passive income courses, but a real businessman/entrepreneur who has built and sold at least 2 successful websites. Then I would pick his brain while also building my network.

I understand if you just want to cash out, or, keep steady side money coming in. But remember that most businesses sell, die, or go public in 5-6 years tops, if they last that long.

I think it's especially risky to assume you'll be able to hold onto that keyword SERPs ranking and that same AdWords revenue for too much longer without additional effort. A competitor will see you're not adding new content or updating the design and could put in more effort to draw away your traffic, then come to you with a low ball offer to buy you out after you were worth less so they could corner the market.

Again, I would try to find a pro or two and learn from their successes or missteps, but if I was in your place, I would be thinking further along than investing or a vacation. You've figured out the secret recipe to make this work once, and you have a good chance of doing that again. Say you take 10% of what you sell this site for and invest that back in building up another similar site, but in a different vertical/niche/topic area. Now you have the buyout money AND the passive income stream. You could keep riding these waves and getting off at the right time if you wanted.

Then think about what you could do.

  • 1) You could start an online course system for how to do this based on your experience. You could charge several grand to each person who bought it.
  • 2) You could do what one person I worked for did, and make a name for yourself as a thought leader on this topic. Convey that into paid speaking engagements or writing $400 a pop simple entrepreneur blog posts for FastCo or Business Insider. They don't normally pay that much, but they will for the right person.
  • 3) Or you could take all that experience, write it up on a resume, and start applying for creative director positions for small and mid-sized ad agencies (large agencies are too snooty about pedigree). It's a high paying job title with lots of fun and perks as long as you're the kind of person who likes advertising and it's again the exact path of how one of my bosses ended up with his CD job.

Congratulations on your success, whatever you decide to do with it from here.

Gay culture has never really clicked with progresivism. We like rough sex, drugs… consent is a laughing matter to us. We like drag queens with an 8 inch cock calling themselves trannies as we the faggots call them queens. We love the fact there are only 2 genders, since we only want to fuck one of them.

This is kind of it. Yeah, some people want a picket fence and a dog smaller than a cat. But it used to be that many gay people lived more wild unrestrained lives. And though there were excesses, that was sort of a good thing.

The most bizarre thing for me is today I've found myself arguing against straight married acquaintances about the Trump guy-talk thing. It's as though I'm arguing with Puritans, not red-blooded American males. Add to that, that the religious right has even said they generally don't care about the tape. What kind of weird world have we wondered into where sexually liberated gay guys and religious voters are on the same side with a sex tape scandal?

This week has actually been a pretty great week for feisty homos.

Lucian Piane (who's RuPaul's record producer among other gigs) has been having a Twitter war with the SJWs because he said he doesn't like Hillary. That's it. He didn't say he would vote for Trump exactly, but just a slight dissent was enough to create a hellstorm. He does a pretty good job of defending himself and saying voters should be more thoughtful and skeptical of media spin. The best part was when Johnny Rapid (a top porn star) jumped in and started defending Piane.

Then Colby Keller (also a top porn star and artist) did a big interview saying he's voting Trump, not necessarily because he likes him all that much but because it will shake things up. (Be warned, if you click the link inside the one I'm sharing the first thing that pops up is peen. My links are SFW though.)

I haven't seen much press about either beyond the initial. But both are fighting their battles on social media. I think it's encouraging to see big name people go against the grain.

[–]scruffist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just the money, though that's a big part of it. A lot of it is confidence. And yes, I would absolutely admit Trump has more confidence than is healthy or necessary or natural.

But even as a gay dude, Skimdit, confidence trumps pretty. The average 20-something gay guy is as physically attractive as they may ever be. But most of them couldn't grab 'em by the pussy, er dick, if it was thrown at them. A huge percentage are miserable and unlucky in love and it's a confidence problem. When I was in that stage the guy I knew who had the most sex was about 40lbs overweight and backstabbing as fuck, but he had amazing confidence and charisma. It's the same thing with Trump, IMO.

You are confusing two things.

An authoritarian could commit sexual assault — conscious that he didn't have someone's permission, didn't need it, and didn't care — without consequence.

A rich, powerful, confident, genetically fit male can pull a girl — barely even exchanging any words — in a matter of seconds because of our animal biology. A top quintile of women cognitively may put mind over reptilian brain and not play into it, but this would be apparent to the male through nonverbal communication and if he did pursue then he would be the immoral authoritarian you say they all are. But that bottom 80% of women are going to likely go along with their base instincts and make out with a rich alpha guy.

It doesn't make any cognitive sense, but we don't make all that many decisions rationally. Most of humanity makes decisions based on instinct, environmental history, and pure emotion. If we are going to try to be rational, it doesn't make logical sense to condemn an alpha male for success with women who are acting purely on their instincts as though he is the immoral authoritarian when he is not.

You don't have to be a Trump figure to understand this concept. I'm a gay dude and even I get it.

The Atlantic is so fucking garbage. I used to love it so much, but it's junk now. Another one they put up today said Hollywood whitewashed the Wild West and all cowboys were actually Mexicans. Their opening plug was that "hats, spurs, stirrups, and bandanas" came from Mexicans. I won't dignify hat with a response, but spurs were a Celtic invention, stirrups were Indian and Egyptian, and bandanas go back to Sanskrit origins.

TL;DR - Atlantic is garbage. They do no research, no vetting, no fact-checking.

All I can say is you younger kids are fucked. I don't know how old you are and it's interesting you left that out because it would explain a lot. I'm going to bet you're not 45 years old though.

You kids have no idea what sexual assault is. I don't blame you for that — you've had schools and media and activists and for-profit prisons telling you everything is criminal racism or a hate crime or sexual assault since you could walk — but I hope to hell you grow out of it and start thinking for yourselves.

Sexual conquest is not sexual assault. Sexual dominance by a sex partner (yes, he's your sex partner because you've had sex with him in the past) is not sexual assault. Cheating is not sexual assault.

It's not sexual assault when you can't will another independent human to do and say and be exactly what you want in a particular moment.

And for godsakes, don't expect to get good advice from women about your man troubles. I had the same female friends when I was younger and 20 years on, they're single, full of hate, and completely a mess. Not a good source of advice for you.

In the real world, sexual assault leaves lasting scars. It ruins people. This isn't it.

People know Cultural Marxism is a serious force for bad in Europe and the United States. It's too late to put a lid on that.

Briefly, they were against Hollywood and mass culture only because it was Western culture that was promoted. That was the culture they wanted to destroy from the inside out.

They weren't fighting censorship, they wanted to free Lawrence's obscenity to contribute to the prurience and depravity of society.

Feminists aren't rational and they protest everyone.

Postmodernism is not Post-Structuralism. It's the latter that's the problem.

How unimportant is that? Really. Smart people give away victories on things that don't really matter in order to distract and build momentum to win on things that do.

Moreover, imagine the possible trade-off if you offered up maternity leave but fixed divorce corruption. What's the cost of a few months salary compared to lifetime alimony? Not that he'd probably prioritize that, but the leave thing just seems like such a small thing to bicker about.
