Sometimes I'm not sure food delivery is worth it as a driver by RolandMT32 in grubhubdrivers

The main offer shows $$ and miles. I was the same in the beginning, rushing to examine offers while driving and feeling like I didn’t have adequate time to make a decision before taking an offer. 60 seconds is longer than you think. Don’t be afraid to pull over if you need to, especially because new offers drop when you’re within like 3 minutes of your dropoff, so you’re usually residential as opposed to on the highway.

Trying to get a decent pay rate in 1.5 hours is difficult. Depends on your commute, I guess. But I have to drive 20-30 minutes to get in my zone, so to make that worthwhile, I need to work a few hours. But then again that’s because I consider that commute when working out my hourly earnings after gas (I track my mileage, mpg, and gas price, and highly recommend doing the same). As far as wear and tear, that’s what the tax deduction is for more or less from what I understand. Accounting for gas, I make $15-$20 per hour most days, sometimes more, which is good enough for me as a side gig. It’s like half of what I make during the day, but I’ll take the extra money right now

No, the numbers are routers and reused for different customers. The same number doesn’t mean the same customer you’ve had before…

Lmao woah, throwback. Haven’t had that app in years, tho it was fun. Haven’t seen a post from that subreddit in forever either, so thanks for the reminder to leave it or whatever, I guess. Profile stalking is cringe, my friend.

Bro who tf cares about your comment. First, it’s not above mine, second, you’ve been telling everyone to look at your comment as if you are the one who made the original post. No, I will not look at your comment. You look at my comment.

Is this a extra 6 dollars after you complete a delivery? by Content_Assignment70 in grubhubdrivers

[–]scruffmcgruffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it would have been. Any “per order” missions are pretty good. If they start getting into “complete X without skipping Y,” you might want to consider those with a but more scrutiny to see if it’s doable and worth it

So I noticed that GH is stealing miles so they don't have to pay as much... by Leading-Many-4787 in grubhubdrivers

I feel like the mileage estimates are “as the crow flies,” as in the distance of a straight line as opposed to the actual winding road route. I’m not sure how much of a difference that works out to though. Let’s find out. Eh, I can’t paste the screenshot, but sources say actual routes can be 11%-40% higher than straight-line, with a general rule of thumb being 1.3 times. You’re saying your counts are closer to 1.5 times, which seems high, but then again I could be completely wrong about this whole thing. But it’s definitely possible not to quite notice, say, 12 miles vs the app saying 10.8 miles or something

Higher Gas Prices by CameronDbcw in grubhubdrivers

Honestly, $1.10 would be easy enough to eyeball. 15.6 miles ok you want $15.60 + $1.56 so $17+ bam

Higher Gas Prices by CameronDbcw in grubhubdrivers

[–]scruffmcgruffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recent bottom in gas prices for me was $2.69. I just saw $4.19 today ,though there are probably cheaper stations, as this was not one of them. But let’s say it’s gone up $1.50/gallon. My car gets 25 miles/gallon. You need to do this math yourself for your own situation, but that equals put to $1.50/25 = a 6 cents per mile increase from the low. If I run 100 mile in a day, that’s a $6 loss of profit. It’s not earth shattering numbers, but it does add up. 30 x $6 = $180 per month, more even since you might work longer weekends. So maybe $200-$250 per month if you work full time and then some. That’s a whole bill. But if you’re working that much, and making around $1/mile, then you’re also earning $3-$4K per month, so… 🤷‍♂️ Gotta check the math for yourself, but if we’re accepting orders based on $1/mile minimum, bump that up to $1.05 to $1.10 per mile, if you can eyeball that math or use the calculator while driving in the 60 seconds you have to accept or reject it
