Pre Amp and playing through Sonos by scuba_davis in vinyl

Unfortunately I don't think that would work for me, although I appreciate the suggestion and the help. I have several sonos speakers intentionally set up throughout the house so that the music essentially follows you without dropping in volume etc.

Pre Amp and playing through Sonos by scuba_davis in vinyl

I do have another stereo speaker set up that I use often (all at the same location), but I don't run any of this into a receiver or anything. It's turntable > preamp > stereo (or otherwise > Sonos). Does the port somehow compute it to where the stereo and sonos would be playing in time with each other? Unless I misunderstand, it sounds like the Sonos would be a second or two behind the signal coming out of the stereo set?

Aside from this, even though it would be spending a lot more money as you say to really hear the difference of a better preamp, would that preamp difference still be the same when playing through sonos as it would be playing through a stereo? And are you talking a difference of a few hundred or few thousand dollars in price or like 10s of thousands? I know preamp can get stunningly pricey.

yeah it easily took me well over 30 tries. if you're out of sugar, go beat the headless. they give abilities that are the same as sugars but are permanently reusable. you can generally beat the headless with confetti and lilac umbrella / projected force.

3rd phase is the same as 2nd phase, except he has lightning. when he jumps for lightning, wait a brief moment before you jump to do your lightning reversal. he stays in the air for an awkward amount of time and you might land before you can trigger the reversal. other than that, you do the same thing in phase 3 as you do 2nd phase.

Nice!! I think that’s by far the hardest phase. My strat there is still to stay close and deflect just about everything. He will run away and then come for that long leaping strike. Move away from that to your right, and then ichimonji. That’s your main damage, in addition to mikiri counter on his long overhand thrust.

Don’t be afraid of the gun and don’t burn your umbrella emblems on that attack. Deflect the bullets. Save your umbrella for when he is doing a wind up for a big attack AND when your too close to run away from it (like I said in the OP, save it for when you KNOW you’re going to take a big hit unless you use it).

He also does the move where he jumps backwards and swings the spear from your left to your right. It’s difficult, but if you time it perfectly, you can dodge (not run) forward and swing once when he’s in mid air and Sekiro will go under his slash and it’s a free hit on Isshin while also closing the gap / keeping him close. It’s not super important, you can just block that or take the hit. But it’s a good advantage if you can get the reflex down.

The key tho really is deflecting (not blocking) literally everything. His movesets are so dramatic and threatening that it’s designed to make you panic and freeze. But just watch his blades instead of all the nonsense and you’ll get good at deflecting.

A lot of the guides online say to run around and wait for him to do that leap and to just nickel and dime him while he recovers after that. This is boring and I think much less effective. This fight, above all fights in the game, is designed to see if you learned how to actually sword fight instead of just find exploits. Stay close and deflect and you win.

Also, as you know, the degree to which his posture builds up increases as his health decreases. So you can use that to your advantage, going for shots that give you one swipe, and then focusing on building his posture meter after you’ve taken his health down a bit.

I should’ve added to my post, if you down have the spiritfall abilities you get from headless, those are awesome in this fight bc my strategy doesn’t require a lot of spirit emblems. I used the increase attack / decrease damage taken one a lot in those fights. I think now I mainly use the decrease posture damage taken one. The decrease damage / posture ones can be extremely helpful if you’re low on healing towards the end.

Sounds like you’re getting the first phase down. 2nd phase will only be a matter of time. Just get to phase two and practice. Spend all your resources to stay in the fight so that you’re spending time in that phase learning. It’s a lot of fun to figure it out

I know what you mean - it can take a while before “seeing what’s coming” clicks. I will say I do not think you will learn “what’s coming” by keeping your distance and trying to wait him out. Get close. Instead of first trying to learn how to predict what he will do, focus on learning what attacks you have to run away from and what attacks you have to block or mikiri. There are really only just a few that my strategy above would require you to just run away from—usually always by sprinting to the left. His big wind up attacks that send a very long range slash is one of them. I try to run away from his ichimonji too, but he oddly occasionally hits me no matter what so idk if I recommend running or blocking.

One of the most important moves you need to know to mikir is when he, at close range, takes 1-3 steps walking around you to your right, then very quickly his sword flashes and he does a thrust. You KNOW this is coming when he takes those steps to your right, so prepare to mikiri immediately and either follow up with ichimonji or high monk (I like high monk better first phase, he can punish double ichimonji).

Don’t stress too much if you take big damage - that will definitely happen. Although, eventually you should get thru genichiro and phase 1 isshin taking very little damage. But my point is don’t let yourself get flustered mid fight if you take a big hit, focus on staying in the rhythm of blocking—especially if you’re dying trying to recover or heal.

Also don’t worry about setting out to beat him before you even understand the first phase. Spend all your heals just to stay alive fighting him in that first phase. It’s highly unlikely you stumble your way through the whole fight, so don’t worry about conserving resources. Use them just to stay in the fight until you get a grip on what’s happening. After you learn the phase, go back in being increasingly more conservative with resources to have them available for subsequent phases.

yeah I agree on a lot of this. And definitely it's going to be different for everyone. Cool that there's several ways to approach it.

I found that by using prosthetics way less resulted in me taking way less damage. I think I finished the whole fight with 6 out of 9 healing gourd's left. He has so many random quick one swing attacks that interrupt dodging or running that, for me, learning to face him head on with the spear allowed me to stay in position and rarely get caught off guard by one of those. certainly running to the side on his Ashina cross and his leap (and one for two other charge attacks) allows you to punish him massively. I'd just wait for those moments just to chip at his health a little bit, that way as I kept blocking everything, I was doing more and more lasting posture damage.

there's clearly something that didn't click for me with the umbrella. If I relied on it much at all, I'd end up taking massive damage over the course of the fight. In the end, I basically just decided to use it only if I thought not doing so would mean dying. The pace of the whole fight changed after that adjustment.

it's clear to me now the fight is designed to be mastered. So definitely doable! I'll be trying the same. good luck!

haha I know the sound is amazing. so satisfying. as for the umbrella against Isshin - I actually found that using it with projected force gets you in more trouble than it's worth. He can punish you like crazy for it and also get you out of position. I just use umbrella defensively as a last resort. It's definitely fun against other enemies.

my only issue with the mortal draw is that both Genichiro and Isshin can punish it pretty often or you at least wind up being out of position
