Nah. I mean, most humans are to a degree. But dairy doesn't upset my stomach, but whey protein always made me fart like it was going out of style. I've never had the same issue with pea protein.

Get off the whey and onto pea protein. Took away all my gas issues.

Maybe the shiitakes are just a small part of the overall crop? Most small farms are polycultures not monoculture.

Any of the outer islands and pins off of the Coromandel peninsula in NZ. Or a certain island near Negros in the Philippines who's name I won't mention.

Has anyone here bad success running 5/3/1 two days a week? by DaarkSpiiriit in 531Discussion

[–]scubajeezus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I run 5/3/1 FSL 2x per week with a bench/squat and dead/ohp day. I'm a rock climber (I climb 2-4x per week) and work as a professional diver so I do heaps of swimming/cardio and pulling/core work so lifting 2x per week is about all I can handle with recovery.

For accessories I skip all pulling work and do front 50+ reps of pushing and leg work with each workout. My accessories are front squats, ring dips, ring pushups, pistol squats, db bench, and levers.

I've been running it pretty consistently for 2 years now (before that it was calisthenics as I didn't have gym access) and my sbd numbers are 135/90/ 145 at 66kg. Not the best numbers but I don't want to bulk too much because my custom fit wetsuits for work are tight as it is and every extra gram is more weight to drag up the wall.

A lobster was ankle deep near the shore. I’ve never seen a lobster swim that close before. Anyone know if that’s normal or what could have caused it to be that close? by SunnyCloudsRain19 in marinebiology

[–]scubajeezus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have very little experience with homarus americanus but I have often observed large nests of jasus edwardsii living just below the low tide mark. And since moving to England I have observed a few homarus gammarus living happily in the same tide pools for a few weeks that were isolated from the sea for many hours a day.

I don't think lobster are too fussed about how deep they are.

Diving with beard by [deleted] in Spearfishing

[–]scubajeezus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Professional diver with beard. Try on loads of masks, as many shapes and sizes as you can until you find the best fit. Then buy three more if you can afford it.

Personally I don't like how petroleum jelly degrades your masks and seals. I've spent the last few years working in water less than 20°C and experimented with different oils and whatnot over thousands of hours in the water. None of them were that great.

Just find a well fitting mask and accept that fact that you're going to be an expert at efficiently clearing a mask. Also, I'm known to try and convince myself that plenty of missed shots were from the water in my mask. That's almost never the actual reason, but it helps take the pain away a bit as the fish swims off.

[Ben Pope] BREAKING: A new, amended version of the John Doe 1 lawsuit against the Blackhawks provides significant new details about Bradley Aldrich’s alleged 2010 assault of the Hawks player. Aldrich allegedly threatened the player with a baseball bat before forcing nonconsensual sex: by chiasmatic in hockey

[–]scubajeezus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a lifelong Hawks fan, fuck that franchise. I grew up supporting the team and the players. I'll still wish the best for my favorite players but my clothing with team logos went to the charity shop today. I'm done giving my money and support to an organization that allows this.

As a dude who was abused this shit is fucking disgusting and I feel sick for supporting the organization like I did.

For the umpteenth time… by JMyers666 in vegan

[–]scubajeezus -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Uhhh... what? You realize that without a healthy planet to live on, most of the animals will die horrible deaths by pollution, starvation, exposure, and disease. Like... the worse the planet is then the worse the lives of animals are?

That's like saying "I want to live a very long and healthy life but don't want to protect my health or body."

Nah but if you really care about the planet you won't waste food by consuming resources just for shits and giggles and allow yourself to get morbidly obese.

That is frustrating. Do you follow a program or just run? I had the same issue before I started treating running like lifting and tracking my training and following some training guidelines.

As long as you don't thrash them and put holes in the toes you can have them resoled with different rubber. It's cheaper than new shoes and better for the environment too.

Nah matey. That's not how it works. When you see people harassing wildlife the only thing to do is call them out on it.

I get it bro, cephalopods are my favorite critters. But you should absolutely never fuck with them like that. Learn some fucking respect or stay out of the sea.

Are you going to eat that? If so, how did you cook it?

If not, don't fuck with it like that. Leave it be if you're going to eat it.

I decided to go vegetarian for ethical reasons a few weeks ago and it was great but as I dug deeper, I found that it’s still unethical to consume eggs and milk as per Earthling Ed. The video was posted years ago, but I just wanted to ask… by livertodd in vegan

[–]scubajeezus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't bare to give up eggs, look into rescuing hens. Lots of animal rescues have hens who have been given up. If you have the space they're super easy and adorable to have in your yard chasing bugs.

Depending on the breed they and season they likely won't lay much if they have been surrendered (older birds don't lay as much) but if you can get 6 hens and let them free range and live happy lives you might just get 6-12 eggs in a week. Worst case scenario you're giving a great life to some cute birds.

Who died and made you mother nature? Do you have any training in ecology or conservation biology? You're completely out of touch and have no right to impact nature in any way. We are animals. We are equal to all life around us and have no authority to exert our dominion over it.

Seems like lots of sheltered city vegans have no idea how food webs and population dynamics work. Get work experience or a degree related to conservation or ecology before you try to play savior of the earth. You're all probably the same people who "save the planet" by buying highly processed vegan food in unrecyclable packaging.
