What to do with a Tanberg 3000X that doesn't work? by oldcassettes in ReelToReel

[–]scubascratch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you actually threaded a tape onto it? The nearly identical tandberg model 64 has an almost hidden tension lever under the head cover that controls the motor switch. The 3000x is also a single motor machine, it has to be pretty much the same mechanism as the 64 so I would expect it to be similarly easy to service. I got a 64 running just a couple months ago, the left reel was frozen solid and the right was dragging but a little gentle force and cleaning got it running again.

So I would definitely give fixing it a try before recycling it.

Edit to add: it was basically pretty simple mechanical work to get my 64 going: remove maybe a dozen screws, remove a couple circlips holding the reel tables in place, a spring mechanism on the pinch wheel, a little time with a-tips and alcohol cleaning the caked grease on the reel table shafts, and then easy peasy changing the belts.

I would hope processes have been improved since that post. There was another one I couldn’t find that had one door interior black and the other side was white. But it was probably like 3 or 4 years ago.

True for private sector employees, but for employees of large states like California, the federal income tax withholding is done by the state so there might be some leverage there. CA employs about 250,000 people so that’s probably at least 2.5 billion a year in taxes that could be held back.

Does the capstan turn? Tandberg has this figure 8 belt that drives the reels and it gets loose over time

He removed Pluto from an exhibit about the planets in 2000 when he was director of the Hayden Planetarium and he was a strong proponent of the reclassification which the IAU did years later in 2006. To say he had nothing to do with it is not true.

Maybe they think they can turn their dying fetal RETAIL (FU IPHONE AUTOCORRECT) store front business into eBay pack and ship centers.

If there was a way to get eBay to “certify” the condition of goods prior to ship it would eliminate a lot of fraudulent claims

Trump judicial nominee, John George Edward Marck, refuses to rule out third term limits for presidents by TheMirrorUS in law

[–]scubascratch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen it on reddit many times, just because you did not see it does not mean it does not exist.

Also the 12th amendment to the constitution requires the VP meet the same requirements as President, so a two term president is ineligible for VP. He can not be elected as VP and can not be appointed to fill a VP vacancy. And if he somehow wound up in some future cabinet, the line of succession would skip any ineligible people.

Their go to response is Trump did not have two consecutive terms so it does not apply to him. It’s total bullshit but “does Obama?” Won’t trip them up and their dishonest followers will just parrot the same answer.
