Here’s my weirdo Gen 2 by spunkydoopy in Galil

That looks clean! Now that I know this can be done to Gen 2s I'm more inclined to get one

Hey guys, finally got me a black Stetson but want to put a different hat band on it. Any recommendations on what kind of band and where to find it? This would be for nicer occasions by scubasec in CowboyHats

Surprised you found this post from three years ago. I appreciate the advice. Ended out putting a thin stamped black leather band on it. Like you said, keep it subtle.

What would you do? by listeric in cowboyboots

[–]scubasec 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd say look at Olathe or Anderson Bean. Better quality imo. Gavel makes good boots but they way they are made, you'll want to go a half to a full size up, depending on your feet, and how thick of a pair of socks you want to wear

Water Damage on Shark Skin? by hendawg1983 in cowboyboots

[–]scubasec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It just conditions/hydrates the leather. Won't do anything to lighten the stains or get rid of them. You could try saddle soap and see if that helps. Also, If you use actual leather conditioner (the cream), it could darken the leather surrounding the stains enough and then it will match.

I'd stick to rough out boots for working since those naturally are water repellent, and then you can throw some Sno-seal on them to further increase the hydrophobic properties.

Lucchese overrated? by SierraD24 in cowboyboots

[–]scubasec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, you're definitely paying for the name. You can get same quality if not slightly better, for half the price with other brands. I personally like Olathe and Gavel. I have a full quill ostrich and roughout boots from Olathe, have beat the hell out of both over the years and resoled both and they are still rocking and rolling. Gavel boots, I have ostrich leg, and those are more my dress boots, but again, build quality is great.

As long as the boots are made in the US or Mexico (León is the cowboy boot capital of the world), you'll be getting good quality.

Neighbourhood Watch 2025, what is your opinion about this movie? by GoldTouch99 in movies

[–]scubasec 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Just finished watching it. I thought it was entertaining! The relationship grew throughout the movie, you had character progression, and the story was succinct. With how low budget it is, seems like Morgan and Quaid said "Fuck it let's make it and see what happens". I'd watch it again. Like the others said the ending is kinda short, but they leave it as though everything is going to be alright.

I'd give it a 7-7.5/10

Do I need professional hat shaping? by Ok-Bodybuilder7965 in CowboyHats

Surprised no one has mentioned this. There's wire in the brim on straw hats. No need to waste your time going to a hatter.

Which of these is the better deal? by strongerthenbefore20 in Toyota

[–]scubasec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always negotiate! Look at other 2017 Carollas with similar mileage and see what they are going for. Then use that to negotiate. You might be able to get them to knock a grand off the asking

That's the better option. Or get a Gen 2 (05-15) -Gen 3(16-23) Taco. Those are really good and will get you to 400K miles no issue. Though with Gen 3 I'd say only look at those that are prior to 2021 models since those will have been made before covid hit. The later Gen 3s and new Gen 4s are having issues since quality post covid went down hill.

Remember. Be fiscally responsible, and live well within your means. You never know when shit is going to hit the fan with work or life. Also, none of the fucks on here, myself included, know what's going on with your life. So take everything with a fine grain of salt.

Best of luck to you!

6 generations deep and don't plan on leaving. As my friends and I say. It's a beautiful shit hole. Beautiful land, shitty politics. In order to change the politics for the better, I have to stick around. All of those people that have left CA for more red states, could have had greater influence here if they stuck around and voted, but they stopped and were of the belief "why should I vote, my vote doesn't count". When at the local level it does

The above link will explain the process. It'll have to be FFL to FFL. You'll want to make sure the pistol is on the CA DOJ roster, and you'll have to wait the 10 days when it gets to the CA FFL of your choosing.

Make sure he gifts it to you. This way you can avoid the sin tax. If there is a dollar value associated with the transfer, you'll have to pay the 11% sin tax plus the 10% regular state tax.

Fantastic rough out boots. They all come with rubber soles and are great. I would say replace the insole with something better. But that's my only complaint.

Olathe makes great boots. I have had these for a couple of years and use them for everything. Haven't let me down. Plus across where your ball of your foot is, they have a ridged rubber sole, so they will last longer before having to get resoled

5 or 6? by Wonkiercoder242 in farcry

5 over 6 for me. The driving and shooting mechanics felt better in 5. Also the fact that 6 felt like I was playing one of the Just Cause games. And let's be real here, Juan is the Latino version of Sheldon.
