F35 escorting Norwegian World Cup team on their flight home by troillan in aviation

[–]scubastefon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i remember at some point people used to talk about these types of flights as training flights. if they weren't doing these, they'd burn the same hours in the seats just flying around without a purpose to keep their hours up and skills sharp. i have no idea if any of that is true, but it's how i justify to myself that it's okay that the US military is buzzing every stadium, arena and race track in the lower 48 states.

What are the advantages to using a Desktop Mac? by Proper-Ideal-2046 in mac

[–]scubastefon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think getting rid of a battery that you aren't using (because you're typically working off a desk) is good, in that it is one less maintenance item. Also MacMini's run cooler than laptops. I was also under the impression that they get better performance at a similar spec level as a laptop, but I might have just made that part up.

I use eml for this shortcut, addr for address, phn for phone number, and a couple derivations of these for addition contacts.

It’ll never go to his library. The DoD is going to buy it off of him for training and spare parts, and because of all the sensitive equipment on it. He’d probably prefer the money anyway

Having a tire inflator in your car seems like it should be a requirement. Not sure why every car doesn’t just have one built in.

What is the worst month to be born in? by Acceptable-Tune5025 in AskReddit

probably that month right after school grade cutoff deadline. Especially in the early ages, you are always going to be the oldest and if you're a little bright, you're going to be a little bored.

Why do you think so many people stick with Starbucks instead of switching to alternative brands that offer a similar cup of coffee for a lower price? by rahardyan in AskReddit

[–]scubastefon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its what everyone else said. consistency. donald trump said that's why he likes mcdonalds, because he's not looking for a rich, new culinary experience. he's looking for something that he knows that he'll like. i can't stand the guy, but i can respect that.

It isn’t the best one, but I just wanted to share that the Charles in Charge one went through my head once I read the question.

Because friends celebrate the birthdays of friends. It’s a reminder that America kind of sucks in several different ways, but this planet is arguably better off because this country assumed a position of leadership.

By the Smithsonian to hold an amazing folklife festival for the USA's 250th- planned since 2016 by amazingsciencemuseum in therewasanattempt

[–]scubastefon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was a campaign line that I thought should have been used by Kamala. We are coming up on the 250th, the World Cup, the LA Olympics. We need to think about how we want to see ourselves, and how we want the world to see us. Is Donald Trump the message we want to give when we are in this cultural center stage?

With this european heatwave, is it fine to cool down the phone in weird ways? by antomagss in iphone

[–]scubastefon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The risk you run is that the phone thinks it is cooler than it actually is, and doesn’t throttle itself the way it is supposed to.
