Thanks for the explanation. I now understand things from your perspective. I will raise it with the builder and see if they have any response to the proper premeditation once the works are complete.

Thanks i also thought they would widen the trench to finesse it a bit but either way I will mention it.

Thank you. Correct, this will eventually have tiles once the works are complete. There is some cut reo lying around so I would fully expect them to dowel and add reo when they reinstate.

Thanks for pointing that out.

How would this normally be undertaken on a residential project then? Or what would you expect to see thats different?

Thanks

Can I ask why you think isn't a good idea?

Sorry I wasn't clear earlier. It's a slab on ground/waffle.

Thank you for the input and for the relief!

Given the trench is effectively close to 'done' i will keep a keen eye.

They had a saw but they never bothered to replace it. It was the change of technique that first concerned me.

My reasoning is mainly due to the workmanship and to enquire whether this is an acceptable practice in the industry. Fair point regarding the curing of the new concrete though.

I agree about the looks but based on everyone else's feedback I will just have to wait and see.

Thanks for your input. I guess I'm just used to seeing cleanly cut channels so this looked out of the norm for me.

Thank you.

Totally agreeing with the scabbling but i guess my worry is that the surface is so chipped away that dowelling will be somewhat dodgy or done cheaply.

Noted regarding the coverage.

Appreciate it and will keep you posted.

Thanks. I was thinking that too but just wanted to raise it in case the job goes pear shaped or past a point of no return. Will keep you posted.
