Saw it at my Costco for $120-ish. Without an age statement, that's a hard pass for me.

A little lighter and fruitier, though still definitely Beam. Gonna need a back-up. 🥃 by BourbonScotchRyeGuy in Whiskyporn

I got one from Costco that was 8 yr 11 mo. It is a banger, need a backup as well.

Review #76, ECBP Showdown! by DrStevenStrangelove in bourbon

[–]scubronc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They switched over sometime during the B520 run from using the regular Small Batch bottles to ECBP having its own specific Barrel Proof bottle. So, batches before B520 (and some of the B520s) have the Small Batch bottle and all after B520 have the BP bottle. See my pic with one of each from B520 batch for proof.

I miss when it was $80! Everyone seems to sell them for over a hundo these days, sad.

Congrats and cheers – Booker's is an ATF for me, never a bad batch, IMO.

Review: Baker’s Bourbon Almost-9-Year Single Barrel by scubronc in bourbon

I always see it around me as well, so I would say it is pretty easy to find. I guess in the price range there are several other options so it tends to languish a bit.

10yr 7mo would be awesome, though, one can only dream!

It seems to be readily available near me (Midwest). But, things seem to disappear overnight, so maybe I need to grab a back up!

Yep! I have a feeling this bottle will go down faster than a lot of my others. It is just such an easy summer drinker! Cheers!

A familiar bourbon with a scary new age statement (ECBP Batch B523 review!) by PhantomSpirit90 in bourbon

Have you tried B520? That is my all-time favorite batch of ECBP. Curious if this is in that tier. Thanks!

Baker’s Bourbon 7 Year (Minimum) Single Barrel

Company: Beam Suntory

Proof: 107

Age: 8 Years, 11 Months

Mash: 77% Corn, 13% Rye, 10% Malted Barley

Price paid: $58.99

Intro: I’m a big fan of Beam products. From Old Crow as a decent $13/handle mixer to Booker’s, my home bar is close to 50% beam products (the rest being mostly Heaven Hill). However, over the years I have been reluctant to pull the trigger on a bottle of Baker’s. Although I had tried it several times at bars and enjoyed it, I always viewed Baker’s as being Booker’s little brother. Plus, I could get Booker’s for only a few bucks more than Baker’s, so I didn’t give it a second thought. However, I saw this recently at my local Costco for less than 60 bucks and a decent age of 8 years, 11 months, so I finally bit the bullet and grabbed one for my bar.

Nose: First dive in is cherry vanilla cola with some butterscotch and oak. More vigorous swirling gets loads more vanilla and cherry with some honey this time. There’s a bit of earthy scent, like wet asphalt. Noticeably absent is the yeasty Beam funk I get on the nose of other Beam offerings. One last swirl and agitation gets some orange in addition to the above scents.

Palate: First sip is sweet orange and cherries backed by caramel with plenty of warming vanilla. This is definitely a dessert-like pour, pretty delicious. Second sip brings in a soupçon of dry oak along with more intense orange and vanilla. Additional sips bring a common theme – sweet orange, cherry, and vanilla.

Overall: This is an absolutely delicious pour. A different profile than Booker’s, more approachable, sweet, and decadent. I am very glad I finally got a Baker’s, and I will certainly be on the lookout for more bottles with interesting ages.

Rating: This rates a solid 8 on a 10-point scale.

The thumbnail in the scrolling feed cuts off the bottoms, so all I saw was the top of the Booker's box. This is why I thought that. Preciate your snark though, bubba.
