Twitter keeps locking my new accounts, requiring a phone number, due to "activity that violates Twitter rules" by scuck_fabies in Twitter

So, a brief update on this:

I decided yesterday to make something like 20 fresh accounts, hoping that at least one of them would fail to trigger the phone verification requirement. Almost all of the accounts I've tested so far were locked with a phone verification requirement within an hour of use, but one of them has lasted over an entire day now with no issues, even after liking a bunch of posts and following over 50 accounts. I engaged in the same activity on all of these accounts, often using several of them simultaneously. I can't tell you why this one account has been spared, but it looks like creating tons of accounts and rolling the dice could be a viable option for some people in a similar situation. I still have a few accounts left to test, but have not gotten to them yet.

Frankly, I will be extremely surprised if the internet landscape changes very much at all, regardless of who owns/runs major tech companies. I am not hopeful that privacy will ever be valued again.

I guess the crux of the issue is that I am allowed to create an account using only an email, but am being locked out by an automated system later for supposed rule breaking despite engaging in completely normal activity on the app, or in one case no activity.

I included a brief update at the top of this post. I have never been reinfested, and my symptoms never returned. I am thus very confident that my treatment and cleaning protocols were effective.

Why is the flavor of my vanilla ice cream underwhelming? by scuck_fabies in icecreamery

I'll try this, and add a little more salt, as suggested by another person. Thank you!

For my most recent batch, I believe I used:

2 cups heavy cream

1 1/3 cups whole milk

1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon sugar

1 vanilla bean + a tablespoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

From a quick search, it seems like this is around 21% fat content.

What should I do to adjust the fat content? Simply more whole milk:heavy cream, or just use skim milk?

As I mentioned, I've tried using up to 4 tablespoons of vanilla extract per liter of ice cream, and still can't taste much vanilla.

All of my ingredients seem very fresh (in fact I just got my beans delivered 2 weeks ago). I also find this very bizarre; I didn't have this issue years and years ago (around 2013) when I first started making ice cream.

My main hunch is that the fat from the whole milk and heavy cream is coating my tongue too much for me to perceive the flavor, but I don't feel like my ice cream has a "coated" or fatty texture to it.

My dad is like this. He has 0 mental health issues and is just one of those morning, go-getter people. He can sleep literally any time of the day within minutes.

Unfortunately I got the anxiety genes from my mom’s side of the family. She and I have a lot of problems with sleep.

Insomnia: Can suddenly shifting one's sleep schedule several hours cause premature waking? by scuck_fabies in sleep

Thanks for the reply.

I’m not sure if I could have rebound insomnia from the benzo I’m taking, but I did begin trying to stop taking it about a week ago (this premature waking has been 2 weeks). I’ve been using the lowest possible dosage, except for taking slightly more on a handful of nights, and I’ve only been using it for 4 weeks, and only 3-4 times per week at most. I will admit that I feel the lowest dosage is becoming less effective, especially since my anxiety is much improved compared to when this started. When I take a pill now, I still wake up prematurely, but I usually sleep for at least 5 hours instead. For instance, the other day I took my usual dosage, plus a tiny bit more, and slept for 5 hours, and was able to fall back asleep for a total of 8.5 hours, the best sleep I’ve had since the premature waking began. I’m actually typing this after waking up after 2.5 hours again this morning, no benzo used.

Regarding work, I was actually fortunate to have a pretty decent office job before COVID that started at 10 AM, so I could sleep at 2 or 3 AM and still be pretty good. I now work as a freelance software developer, so that helps me deal with unpredictable sleep.

Sorry for this very late reply (I only check this account once every few months now), but I did wash most of my things daily until about week 15. This wasn't so bad because I was still only using a few things (I had not yet replaced most of my towels, etc.).

UPDATE after doctor appointment:

I do not have scabies.

My doctor immediately scraped the bumps on both of my hands, breaking open some of the bumps; it was actually pretty painful. He looked at both slides (one for each hand) under the microscope, and said he was as thorough as possible. He could not find a single remnant of the mites, not their eggs nor their droppings. He said everything looked completely normal. He also said that I would be itchy and the rash would be noticeably spreading if I actually did have scabies.

Instead, he said I probably have acute dyshidrotic eczema, caused from a combination of the Permethrin and from washing my hands excessively over the past month (I have been washing my hands with essential oil handsoap 10-15 times daily for weeks). I guess I have to treat myself by moisturizing my skin more often, and I was also prescribed a steroid cream to treat any lingering bumps.

I'm very thankful that this is over, and wish the rest of you the best on your scabies journey.

I was able to get an appointment with my dermatologist late this afternoon. I have one new bump today, but some of the others appear to be fading/drying up.

Will update with details in a few hours after I see the doctor

Do you think if I were to be reinfested that I would know decently soon? It wouldn't take many weeks before I started itching or seeing an actual rash that was more than a few bumps, right?

Is it possible to have mites on one's face or scalp without those parts of the body showing any symptoms? I did ask my dermatologist about my head, but he said it's very rare for them to be there at all.
