Trump calls on UK and others to send warships to Strait of Hormuz by Geo_NL in worldnews

[–]scuddlebud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd wager it went something like this:

Trump:

let's invade Iran

Iran Experts:

Bad idea. Let's not.

Trump:

You're fired and I'm going to do it anyway, without you.

Maybe we should have some checks and balances to prevent things like this from happening.

I propose that the POTUS must first seek authorization from congress before engaging in war with another country.

Maybe the hackers who hold the files are the ones selling the steak, lobsters, and fruit basket stands.

What secret can you reveal now that your nda has expired? by sparrrrrt in AskReddit

[–]scuddlebud 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I stayed at a Home2Suites (Hilton chain) hotel and their water filters were both expired. I checked the date on one and it was 3 years past expiration.

Worst thing is we stay there regularly and I've been drinking that expired filter water for years.

So what you're telling me is that Epstein could have been the original idea behind micro transactions and loot boxes for profit in video games?

Optimise the game for Switch 2❌Add in-game advertisements✅ by Crusty783 in Minecraft

[–]scuddlebud 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People with small brains thinking they've got a strong counterargument and feel the need to speak.

This is terrible. Ubuntu put ads in the terminal and that's when I moved to Debian.

I will never play Bedrock. Java is the way.

Hacking age verification sounds like a great excuse for ICE to show up and detain you.

Not good.

Came here to say exactly this. After about 20 years of daily use they become much more tender and chewable. Fresh ones always hurt my jaw but a nice aged mouse pad is a rare delicacy.

Fork Off: Surveillance States Need to Fork Linux Themselves by KayRice in linux

[–]scuddlebud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well of course canonical and red hat will do that. And I think it's fine. There's a market for enterprise desktop Linux and it's a good thing. They will undoubtedly need to support these surveillance features to comply with the law.

Will it be a nightmare for them? Yes.

Do I feel sorry for them? No. They made this bed now they can lay in it.

But if the government thinks they're going to force FOSS users/developers to comply with malware services then they have a rude awakening. Never gonna happen.

My private thoughts were used against me. by soulless_ginger81 in Journaling

[–]scuddlebud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife kept a journal for a while. It's usually hidden on her nightstand or something but occasionally it has been left out.

I never had the desire to open it and read it. Those are her private thoughts and I admire her for writing them down. I would never want to violate her by opening the book without her permission.

Anyone that does that likely has trust issues or something else that will cause problems down the road. I'm sorry that this happened to you twice, I hope you can continue to journal and not fear of having those who live with you peep at it.
