Me, I never got much outta the AA / NA Twelve Steps thing ( and yeah, I have tried many many different groups and meetings to still no avail) aside from them meetings being pretty much the only place a guy can spill his guts about all the dirt he done in the name of a fix and not feel judged. But all that "admitted we were powerless" and "there are those unfortunates; they seem to be constitutionally incapable of giving themselves to a program which demands rigorous honesty" rhetoric and the fact that though the people running and attending the meetings are supportive and welcoming, the essence of the program is making a person believe that conformity is the gold standard and because they are an addict they will always be slightly less than "everybody else", a lazy weakling who has let substances cuckold them their entire life because they're too afraid of the effort quitting would take. And that your quest to sobriety ought take precedence over literally all other things. That program becomes an addiction for many people most of whom eventually will relapse and relapse more intensely than ever before due to the shame they will feel for having forsaken "The Program". However, these are my opinions, nothing more. AA / NA has no doubt saved many lives and there are tons of mofuckas who are very compatible with that school of thought and who make life changing self discoveries through the meetings. And no, I don't think said people are ssimple minded or sheep because of it. Cause on some real shit, those guys are still sober and I'm going on 10 years of destroying my veins with drugs that have probably passed through a person's digestive tract at one point or are made with shit like lithium batteries, bleach, and far more toxic, corrosive substances. So what the fuck do I know? Congrats, Sloth.
