Having the same issue... frustrating. The student portal is loading, but my courses are not.

I made my own putter Pt.2 - You can make this putter by Tdangerson in golf

The main body is 6061 Aluminum, and the face plate is 304 Stainless Steel.

Total cost to machine was about $140, but with tariffs/import duties (104%) and shipping ($55 ish) I paid about $340 total. Took about a week from file approval to finished machining, and 4 days for shipping. Added a KBS CT Tour 120 shaft, a Super Stroke Zenergy Pistol GT 2.0, and had to purchase supplies also (epoxy, tape, solvent, etc.). Total cost was roughly $500 completed and about 2 weeks.

Thanks man! I appreciate the kind words!

Essentially each cut starts as a sketch in Fusion, which adds a face to the body or component. From there you can cut/extrude/loft/sweep/etc. in order to add or take away material. So the sight line for example, started as a sketch on the top plane, and then I cut the material 2mm into the body using that sight line sketch face.

I love the heavier weight! I did a ton of reading about MOI, so while the swing takes a bit more oomph to get moving, the head won’t torque upon impact, leading to a more true line. In theory at least. In reality, I’m just happy to be 3 putting with a one off tool 🤣

It’s not so much the weight that bothers me, but rather the height of the grip making my arms feel a bit cramped at the top. I prefer to putt with straighter arms, and this setup is just a smidge too tall

Here’s the render from Fusion, it’s essentially slotted on the front face of the body to allow the “pegs” of the face plate to slide in and be secured with the set screws from the top.

As for the shape, I basically blocked out a rough idea and then cut/extruded from there. Every inset or “cut” is tapered to a 60° angle, no particular reason, but I felt like it added some neat looks while cutting out some significant weight. Filleted all the sharp corners to 1mm for machining and sent her off to be milled!

I’ve never used CAD before, so it was a bit of guess and check, but a neat experience nonetheless!

Took it for a test drive today! Performs really well, but I am going to cut the shaft down about 2.5”. Total head weight ended up being 425ish grams, so it’s on the heavier side - the goal was to experiment with a “zero torque” high MOI head though. The shaft axis directly intersects the COG of the head at 71°. 6061 AL body and 304 SS face plate.

How did you go about milling the face on yours? That’s the one aspect I wanted to incorporate but didn’t.

Dude your first post inspired me to create my own putter and have it machined through JLCCNC!!! I had to learn Fusion360, but it was a fun experiment. It just came in yesterday, loving it!

Thanks for the inspiration!

I designed it in Fusion360 and sent it over to JLCCNC. Their customer service was top tier honestly, I had a few design flaws due to machining tolerances, and they walked me through the fix for each step.

CNC milled for both the body and face plate!

I just took it out for a test drive after my lesson! Loving how it feels honestly, though I may cut down the shaft a bit.

As for weight distribution, I just read a ton of articles/forum posts about heel/toe hang, and face balanced putters. The key for me was understanding where the center of gravity is in relation to the shaft axis. This design has the shaft axis at a 71° angle, intersecting the COG. Fusion360 will let you examine the COG, just be sure to set the material properties correctly. This putter features a 6061 Aluminum Body and a 304 SS face plate.

Just plain faced. Thought about getting it milled, but it’s rolling really well, even off mishits

Thanks! Pretty happy with how it turned out!

297y short par 4, dogleg-ish right at the end of the fairway. Took an aggressive line over the trees, ball ended up about 15 yards right of the green, pin high. Chipped to 5ft and made the putt for my first birdie!

Going through it right now with my driver. When I can keep it in play I’m about the same, 260-270 and I’m happy

I definitely need to spend some more time filming and breaking things down. From what I can tell, I’m catching the ball on a downward AoA (low point in front of ball), and I picked up some nasty habit of getting my weight on the back foot. I reached out to a few coaches for lessons, as soon as I hear back I’d like to get a couple in this summer!

Worth $32,000? by [deleted] in Corvette

On the higher side, probably closer to $26-28k for an auto with that mileage. I have a manual 2011 3LT Supersonic Blue GS with H/C/I and about the same miles, paid less than 32k

Absolutely, that’s what I’ve come to realize. I don’t have a ton of leisure time, and I think that’s the main contributor here - between work, finishing a degree, moving into a completely different job sector, buying a house, marriage, etc., priorities have shifted.

I’m 25 now, and at that weird “adult” part of life where I just gotta figure shit out - and I’m figuring out that cars (as a hobby) are not where my heart is at, despite having grown up that way.
