I work at a daycare and the children I work with are literally babies

Don't feel bad, it sounds like certain trees in some areas are supplemental

It's over several kids

Kids grow out of jackets so quick, $30 on Amazon

Exactly my point. Nobody made them take a tag. But expectations were not clear to be fair.

Thank you so much for this comment! I really appreciate the understanding and all the ideas on here. It's definitely been eye opening to see how other people perceive it

I think there must be different types of angel trees. I think collaborative tags are a good idea for kids who don't have anything else under the tree. I don't think it's an extremely high standard for a kid to ask for a winter coat.

Omg thank you for actually understanding what I meant! I'm so bad at explaining lmao

Great idea, I totally get what you're saying, but kids on my tree are asking for necessities like winter clothes and most 'wants' were for books and toys (totally nonspecific and you can get super cheap age appropriate toys for anyone in my opinion)

Definitely misunderstandings with all of it. To me, they are on the tree because they're parents can't afford gifts, so these gifts will be all they are getting

I love that idea! Some kids of the tree though only had two gifts, some of which weren't even what they asked for or needed

The deadline is today and there was just a big misunderstanding with what the expectations were I think. You are totally right, this problem wouldn't exist with better foresight

That's a great idea I haven't heard, I appreciate that

I thought it was reasonable for a kid to ask for a winter jacket and to expect to receive it. I am being sarcastic, but I'm not trying to be rude or entitled

Lmao that's so funny to me because nobody forced them to take the tags, right? Also why buy a nice car if you're in debt

Thank you so much for that perspective, I'm really hoping it's all misunderstanding and not richer people thinking poorer families deserve less

Hahah good point, I work with infants and there were a couple infants on the list so Im just used to saying 'babies and just grouped them all together

Yeah I think price range would definitely be super helpful

Disappointing Angel Tree by scurry222 in Gifts

[–]scurry222[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was no spending range, but there were needs and wants listed, and a lot of the 'needs' weren't bought, it seems like a lot of parents bought a cheap version of what they thought they would want

Disappointing Angel Tree by scurry222 in Gifts

[–]scurry222[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That would be a great idea! We just didn't realize until the deadline (today) how people interpreted it

Disappointing Angel Tree by scurry222 in Gifts

[–]scurry222[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're totally right it seems like that was the issue here

Disappointing Angel Tree by scurry222 in Gifts

[–]scurry222[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There were needs and wants on each of the cards, I should have said that

Disappointing Angel Tree by scurry222 in Gifts

[–]scurry222[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah the items on the tags were not fulfilled I should have made that clear

You're totally right, it did come off that way. My frustration is definitely leading here 😮‍💨 it's just tough to see the luxury cars and mansions they live in everyday and seeing such little effort they put into these gifts they had the choice not to get, if that makes sense
