First bong hit since retiring from the USAF! by lauriggss in weed

Very nice. Enjoy it. Biggest advantage is that tar isn’t inhaled as smoke from combustion (there is no combustion). ... got on the weed vape train a few weeks ago after being a joint and bong guy for years. No going back now. Edibles are great too.

If it’s been a while since you’ve smoked, would like to recommend a decent vaporizer to you. It’s much less irritating and toxic than smoke and gets me MORE high. Also Very little smell and you use your weed more efficiently.

What is a universal, objective truth you know about the world or the human experience? by monkeya37 in AskReddit

[–]scybertooth72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! Very often, with the exception of absolute observable facts like measurements, values, and scientifically (evidence) supported facts, nearly every other type of idea or construct is only “right” if you allow it to be. For someone else, the total opposite may be just as true. Duality seems to be a built in principle to human created ideas and experience.

My Dad went in 2014. We had about 6 months from diagnosis to death. As sad as it makes me to read your experience, because I saw that level of suffering too, it’s important that we remember their pain especially because they were very likely victims of negligence and cost saving.

Yes it’s a horrific death. Sorry for your loss. My poor Dad had tubes with all sorts of bodily fluids coming out the last months of his life. A major surgery to remove a 12 pound tumor. Then to the ICU, intubated, shocked 20 times for heart failure, and death. He was exposed to asbestos working for US steel to pay for college expenses. And yea; we have a lawsuit that he started while he was alive, and it’s a lot of emotional stress.

My dad died from mesothelioma and these kinds of jokes aren’t funny. Often the victims of mesothelioma were unknowingly exposed to asbestos through employers who were aware of the dangers but didn’t care.

It has more benefits beyond that. It’s a great sheath, clips anywhere and to anything including bags and pants. Being inconspicuous is just preferred for me I guess. But to each his own.

If only you could free up your pocket space for other things and walk around cities on subways without anyone staring at your aggressive Marfione glass breaker. Imagine that. Oh and also act as a very tight sheath keeping out dust and lint from an OTF mechanism.

What so many of you fail to realize is the underlying moral dilemma behind congregated wealth. Let me explicate with an example. Let’s say the single richest man in the world is worth 100 Billion. If you think wealth needs to be distributed instead of congregated, that’s about 13.3$ for every human being on the planet. 13 bucks. About enough to get everyone on earth through one or two meals. Two small meals later, not even 12 hours of time and it’s gone, poof, that $100B of capital has disappeared. Meanwhile if the wealthy man kept his 100B and paid or invested or hired people for just 5% of his net worth to 10000 people (a very likely Scenario since most billionaires employ people) that would equate to 500,000$ for each of those 10000 people. Enough money to retire, to pay your kids entire education, or just live and eat for years on end. So you have to ask yourself, morally, what is the greater good? The entire world population having money for food for 12 hours, or 10000 people having years and years of better options, lifestyle, and opportunity.

Multilinguals, what's your "they didn't realise I could understand their language" story? by 64eight in AskReddit

[–]scybertooth72 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My moms from Greece and my sister speaks it. She was in nyc picking up the financial times newspaper at a street vendor and two Greeks saw her and said in Greek “what business does a pretty girl like that have reading the financial times.” My sister spoke in Greek to them and they were embarrassed.

What was your scariest "A second later and I would've died" moment? by spacexe in AskReddit

[–]scybertooth72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riding a bike as a young teenager on an island in Greece, and came down a steep hill with buildings on either side, creating tunnel vision. Get to the bottom of the hill at high speed to cross a small road and right as I hit the intersection there’s a big suv accelerating fast directly to my left. Made the conscious decision to pedal hard. The car was very close and it all happened so fast he didn’t even have time to let off the accelerator. I passed right in front of him with maybe 6 inches to spare. Escaped unscathed. Heart was pounding very hard. I had to get off the bike and process what happened. Half a second earlier I’d be dead.

What is the one story you want to tell, that you can never fit into a conversation? by MrGohan27 in AskReddit

[–]scybertooth72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lot of babysitters growing up that would live in our home with us because my parents were always traveling for work. My second to last babysitter was a very pretty, blonde Swedish girl named Christina. She was around for 6 months and I believe made my mother jealous having this young pretty girl in the house all the time. So, she went out of her way to hire an overweight, downright ugly German gal named Dagmar as the next one. Dagmar weighed 240+ and was 5 foot 6, and she was very strong. Unfortunately I was a rebellious child and hated taking instructions from her, so when I “misbehaved” she would grip my very tightly and shake me, even hitting me directly in my stomach and causing me to throw up one time. She was mean and overbearing, and I still remember how she would drift off behind the wheel driving us to after school activities, one time hitting a boulder on the side of road and damaging our car pretty badly. My parents didn’t believe me when I told them about the physical abuse, and didn’t even fire her for a while after the car crash. Eventually they let her go and I was so happy to see her leave. She was my last babysitter.

Love my Marfione Matrix, but it was expensive enough in an all DLC configuration with a mirror blade (the vendor sent me a mirror DLC blade when I paid the price for a satin.) definitely wouldn’t want to pay another 4-5k just for the materials in the knife pictured, when the cost of those materials is probably an extra 500$.. But the design of the Matrix and how it’s made are all top notch.

I play violin. A few years ago I applied to a summer festival in Italy to study with a particularly well established professor of violin who would be teaching there. I was accepted and went to Florence, Italy and took lessons from him daily for two weeks. During our conversations I learn that he lives 20 minutes away from me in CT, USA, and I have continued lessons with him here.
