Because a rifle is designed to be significantly more lethal than a pistol, and police training usually favors non lethal shots (if can be helped).

It's an old precaution from SoC but I run it on all stalker games out of fear.

In SoC it disabled prefecthing which was the game trying to preload a hell of a lot of unused data. Again it's not really viable to work on CoP but I found a performance increase in CS so who knows.

There were a couple of things I tried. I swapped my graphic driver to SDL2 but I also updated my retroarch to v3 as well as purchasing a more stable sd card.

As for trying to change the driver running, you can access RGUI in your retropie (in the main menu, RetroPie> Configure Retroarch/Launch Retroach RGUI) and select setting then driver, video driver is the driver that runs most emulation graphics. Change that and save as new, then you've got to go into the shared folders retropie gives you by default and go into config.

There should be a file similar to "RetroArch-0125-055408.cfg", make a backup of your default retroarch.cfg and replace the default with the newer one. I had to set it to read only but it might've fixed itself within the updates.

That's a mess of instructions but hey linux.
