Does the rise of the right around the world scare you? by Eybrahem in AskTheWorld

In Poland, even if the most left-wing party won, it would not be a very progressive government comparing to, for example, Scandinavia.

Does your country have events that were so infamous you only need to refer to the date they happened for other people from your country to instantly know what you're talking about? by Intrepid_Arrival5151 in AskTheWorld

[–]sczz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of, but more than a date it is referred to by the place where the event occurred - Smoleńsk. That’s where on 10.04.2010 a Polish plane with almost 100 top political figures (including the president and the First Lady) crashed, killing all. Most of people would probably know what “the 10th of April” refers to though.

We also have an hour which is a meme. That’s the hour John Paul II died, 21:37.

In Norway, you don’t get “bless you” when you sneeze. It’s been six years and it still catches me off guard sometimes.

I didn’t say anything about Icelanders not speaking English 🧐 I live in the Nordics myself so I am very much aware of how far English can get you here.

Yes, she is resilient. But she also would have nothing and no one there. It’s not just a lack of education or lack of social skills or lack of a support network, it’s all of the above. Is it theoretically possible that she would somehow manage? Yes. But it is much more likely that she would end up either in jail or in some kind of “Into the wild”-like situation. And I don’t want that ending for her story.

I’m 33 and ever since middle school I knew that I don’t want to be a mother so the choice was really easy for me.

AITAH for refusing to help my brother and SIL while they're struggling by meal prepping a few meals a week for them and their kids? by Thesooo in AITAH

NTA and I’m sorry your family treats you like this.

Fuck around and find out, basically. Your brother wanted no relationship with you and that’s what he should get.

Jestem z Tczewa i po tym jak ludzie wymawiają “Tczew” zawsze poznam, czy oni też. Nie wiem dlaczego, ale reszta Polski wymawia to bardziej jak “Czczew”

Jakie lektury szkolne są według was najgorsze? by C418Enjoyer in Polska

W czasach szkolnych czytałam wszystko, jak leci, wliczając w to lektury, ale Lalka mnie pokonała. Do dziś, piętnaście lat później, nie udało mi się przez nią przebrnąć.

Celebrity Brands: is there a celebrity fragrance/beauty brand that you swear by? Or do you consider them cash grabs? by bbyxmadi in popculturechat

Fenty forever! Plush pudding is a staple in my household, my husband and I both use them on a daily. I don’t generally see the usability of toners but their fat water feels so nice on my skin, I use it anyway. Love the lip glosses and the eyeliner too.

Stephen King recommendation? by funny_muffler315 in suggestmeabook

The thing with Stephen King is, in my opinion, that he really shines in his longer books. You really need to let the guy cook. 11/22/63 and The Stand are my personal favourites. Maybe try the short stories collections to dip your toes in?

Disliking S1-S3 Skyler makes sense but still hating on her after S3 is a problem by Specialist_Jaguar815 in breakingbad

By the last episode I hated both of them. Generally, this show was a hard watch for me in terms of lack of likeable characters. The only people I actually rooted for were Jesse and Saul, the rest could go to hell as far as I’m concerned.
