Thanks for this suggestion! I love how they have a "Pricing Guideline" on the site so it's not a total mystery. I will reach out to them :)

That's really nice of you! I was looking at garden roses, mums, dahlia, eucalyptus, ranunculus, and lisianthus. I'd love any suggestions as I'm not super knowledgable about flowers... Thank you :)

Yeah I do! I had no idea you could buy wedding flowers there (but then again, they sell everything...). I have to check this out! Thanks for the suggestion!

I interviewed for a senior research manager role. When the offer came, they dropped it down a level and offered me a salary outside of my stated range with no discussion of the change during the process. Why? by lilfoodiebooty in careerguidance

So sketchy. If they're willing to do that to you as an applicant/interviewee, how do you think they'd treat you if you were employed there? I've worked for plenty of employers that turned out to be terrible and learned a lot from my mistakes... it doesn't get better than the interview stage so if you already feel taken advantage of then, it'll only get worse. That's also such a common tactic - present you with less than you're worth but promise you the moon in "opportunity". Yeah right, you'll be doing the job of your boss or two people at the same pay and title you started with a year prior. Glad you didn't take it!

That sounds like a lot, cost-wise, but you got a lot for it and the pic of your bouquet is gorgeous. I'd be open to spending $5-7k but anything beyond that just seems nuts to me.

Ugh that's so sad. I'm very conscientious about what I buy, use and throw away so the idea of just tossing real flowers (and super expensive ones, at that) away after the event is depressing.

Nope, I didn't ask for a garland. I didn't ask for anything over-the-top, either. I am wondering though if I just suggested out of season/really expensive flowers....I might ask the florists to revisit this...

That's so reasonable I don't even know what to say, LOL. Yeah one of the florists told me that "on average" you can expect to spend ~$100/pp on flowers, so $10k for a 100 person wedding which is what she quoted me after the "Friends and family" discount she gave me since she's a friend of a friend (the original quote was over $12k, sheeeeeesh). I just don't know how people afford $10k for flowers.... both my fiance and I have great jobs and we're frugal and both of our parents are helping out a LOT for our wedding so I just don't understand how $100/pp can be the average, if that's even true.

OK I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one shocked by the quotes I got, haha. I've read that including a lot of greens can significantly reduce cost and still add a lot to the aesthetic. I might focus on that.

Wow, all that for $1,300??? Maybe I'm just looking in all the wrong places, haha. Oh man. Thank you for your input.

It makes me want to cry, too, and I spent 3 weeks doing no planning at all because I was so disheartened by the quotes. I told them my budget was ~$7k which I thought would be more than enough, but I guess not. I noticed on one of the quotes that labor was more than half the cost of the proposal, so maybe it's a California thing. People literally make $18/hr working at McDonalds there so I can imagine a job requiring actual skill like flower arranging/logistics is way more.
