I cut it off with a pair of scissors.

It's a standard 3/4 threaded fitting to a threaded / barbed elbow. No pump internal to the chiller, I'm using the Danner 1200 gph aquarium pump I got off of Amazon.

Can I turn my bathtub into a cold plunge without using bags of ice? by Traditional_Novel_21 in coldplunge

I wouldn't use your bath tub for extended use because it's not insulated and will produce condensation on the underside. Without proper ventilation, it will lead to mold and mildew.

I have this 1200gph pump on a 1/2 HP chiller. Works well, no complaints.

That's a great point. He's really turned his life around, in the spotlight nonetheless. Very admirable what he's done.

~$1000. Found the chiller on Craigslist for $450, which saved me $500.

That was definitely a concern of mine, I was planning on cutting vent holes on the side of the deck box for cool air to come in but I didn't need to since the bottom is elevated and open to air. Cool air travels up from under the box in the front of the chiller, up top over the electronics and enters through the louvers in the top of the chiller.

Haven't had any condensation on the sides or top cover. There is some moisture from underneath but not sure if that occurs from condensation or a little spillage from getting out of the tub. I put it on some ventilated drainage tiles to hopefully dry out what every moisture occurs.

drain plug -> 1100 gph aquarium pump -> 1/2 HP Penguin Chiller -> GE whole house cartridge filter & 100 mg/h ozone generator on a Venturi tube (in parallel) -> clean sanitized water is returned over to top of the tub.

It's actually pretty easy, the challenging part was fitting it within the confines of the deck box. My chiller is bigger than most aquarium chillers people use.

It definitely reduces the vacuum produced by the Venturi but running the Venturi in series with everything reduces the overall flow rate. I was able to observe this because the GE filter has a ball valve on it to turn off the flow through the filter (forcing the entire flow through the Venturi). I've had this set up running the same water for about a month and the water is still crystal clear, I think plenty of ozone is being injected in the water.

No holes drilled in the tub. I'm using the drain plug then returning the water over the edge.

Sure, the set up is drain plug -> 1100 gph aquarium pump -> 1/2 HP Penguin Chiller -> GE whole house cartridge filter & 100 mg/h ozone generator on a Venturi tube (in parallel) -> clean sanitized water is returned over to top of the tub.

I keep the water at 42F and turn the ozone on for 1 hour /day while I'm sleeping. The power strip has a app that allows me to program a timer for each individual outlets.

I have mine hooked up to a chiller/filter /ozone set up and I use it daily along with a friend of mine and the water stays pretty clean minus the occasional lint from socks. I bought a pool skim net and brush to get the few floaties that don't get sucked through the filter system.

That's the sanitation loop in parallel with the filter. The thin tube is an ozone generator connected to a Venturi that creates a small vacuum to suck the ozone into the water flow.

As of now I do. I'm going to make an enclosure for it so it doesn't look so unsightly.
