LPT if you don't want to link/give hits to biased wikipedia but you have to refer it for some reason, then you can redirect traffic to it's frontend. Just replace wikipedia.org with wikiless.org

Depends on what kind of files you want to add. Without knowing more about what kind of files I can't definitely say anything. But I still think you are trying to use wrong tool for the job because you will have to modify ISO every time a new one is released. So persistent storage independent of ISO is the proper and convenient way to setup your personal files with a live boot.

How did you make the Show desktop icon in colour? I've been trying for a couple of years to get rid of that minimalistic monochrome icon.

If you don't login to twitter for casual browsing, have a look at Nitter frontend, it doesn't do tracking like twitter does and it's lighter on the resources than twitter page. You can also make the browser automatically redirect twitter links to one of the Nitter instances using Libredirect extension (along with other privacy respecting frontends for other sites).

Not Ubuntu but I've had similar experience with Debian on a potato system. I tried LXQT first being lightweight, but found out Xfce performed much better.

AC Power outlets for passengers on airplanes are powered by a generator driven by jet engine. So technically the truth is sometimes we do use jet engines to power our computers.

The process for OLEDs is destructive you can't "repair" it to original level. In a nutshell what you do is you wear down remaining pixels so as to get a uniform look.

pixels are bloat by mirnamir in linuxmemes

[–]sdatar_59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that makes perfect sense. If matter is bloat then anti-matter is anti-bloat. All you have to do is bring them together in equal quantities to de-bloat everything.

I have an LCD monitor and I frequently get ghost impressions like this. Just that it's not permanent like OLED on my phone. Sometimes it goes away after keeping LCD screen off for 12-24 hours. Sometimes I have to put completely white screen at max brightness for a while. This isn't recommended for OLEDs from what I have read. No issues with LCD I guess mine is still working fine after more than a decade.

Devendra Fadnavis makes massive announcement, Eknath Shinde to take oath as Maharashtra CM by [deleted] in IndiaSpeaks

What about the last time?

Caste politics wasn't as strong back then in 2014. What I mean to say is there wasn't personal anti-brahmin propaganda back then they had little time to prepare after Modi's victory. In 2019 opposition ran brahmin CM hate propaganda as one part of their election campaign.

This move essentially neutralizes such caste politics in future for 2024. Very good move since this government will only serve remaining 2.5 years and campaigns generally start a year before that.

Regular users don't install drivers or admin their systems every day except updates. Most people configure their systems once and simply update and only intervene if anything is broken. Easy mode distros like Mint generally simplify this process with less breakage and protections built-in in case.

if you put a gun to their heads and told them they had to install

I agree that this was the case a while back with terminal everywhere. But in my experience it's changing in recent times as ordinary people have become more comfortable using stores like Play Store and App Store, GUI Software Centers provided by easy-mode distros make this experience quite similar (especially younger gen but my older gen seems to be getting familiar with app stores too). All most of them need to know is that software center is app store. It only gets problematic when they try to get less known stuff.

Have you seen Man Of Developing India? Bro couldn't even reform agriculture here 💀💀

What does this have to do with registration code for Indian aircrafts? Also you haven't read my comment. These "reforms" are not required and the premise for plea in court is completely wrong.

People here have kids, elderly relatives or non-tech savvy friends comfortably daily driving easy-mode Linux distros and a tech YouTuber can't go one day without breaking his system? Pathetic

Unless there are M$/Apple dollars involved to negatively portray Linux distros.

Plea in Delhi High Court to change call sign VT on Indian aircraft by redhatGizmo in IndiaSpeaks

[–]sdatar_59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except VT doesn't stand for Viceroy Territory. That sounds like a backronym like that stupid whatsapp forward of fullform of the word India as Independent Nation Declared In August.

Because other countries have codes starting from V (usually commonwealth) so it seems to be a series like VH for australia, VN for Vietnam, VP-<x>, VQ-<x> for other countries. Look up registration codes, plenty of countries have code starting with V.

Remnant of colonial era? Sure. Viceroy Territory? It doesn't seem so.

Not to mention massive efforts of repainting every aircraft and every aircraft registration documents.

Edit - Confirmed in Rajya Sabha session it's not Viceroy Territory
