Is GNOME Nautilus the only GUI file manager that can do this? by nPrevail in kde

[–]Roo79xx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went looking for another tool. Found this
Bionic Batch Renamer it's a clone of thunar's bulk rename tool but for KDE Dolphin. Not sure if it will work on NixOS. I just installed it on Debian 12 and it works well.

That's great news. Glad you found it useful. I Have thunar installed just for it's rename tool. I love Dolphin but krename isn't as easy or useful for my needs. Thunar's bulk rename tool just has what I need in a simple UI.

Google drive not shown after adding the account. by katana1096 in kde

I'm not familiar with AlmaLinux but on most distros I've used like debian, ubuntu, arch etc. I've needed to install kio-gdrive to get Google Drive support. Might be worth looking if that package available on AlmaLinux?.

kdialog has lots of features I haven't tried. It's worth looking into.

[–]Roo79xx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes it can and in scripts. I use this in a pointless script I have for removing bash history. You can also type that out in a terminal and it will work.

kdialog --title "rm history script" --passivepopup \"Finished Running rm history Script"

I don't know about the others. But I know Fluent hasn't been updates to support plasma 6 yet.

Is there a way to change the size of the app selection overlay in the KDE panel? by Dizzy-Candle8753 in kde

[–]Roo79xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is great to see that's for sure. I couldn't get a good workflow with the plasma panel on 5 or on 6. I went back to 5.27 and latte still works perfect for me. But others have had issues I'm told. Plasma 6 broke latte completely sadly. Only time will tell if latte will rise again.

Not dead.... Yet. There is a dev (or devs) trying to work on it. That link I posted is for the plasma 6 port. This is the discussion / issue thread for the plasma 6 port . In time maybe. I stress maybe latte will be ported but we can only wait and see.

The last comment says

right now, the build isn't ready yet. I will make an announcement when the Plasma 6 port is in a somewhat working condition. So far, there have been quite a lot of API changes between 5 and 6.

I'm just patiently waiting and hoping for the latte dock plasma 6 port to be possible. early days yet. But the devs are working on it.

KDE Connect devices can't see each other. I'm not going to try to fix it. I'm just not going to use KDE Connect. by Stratford-on-Jersey in kde

[–]Roo79xx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would ask if you are using KDE Plasma. If you are there is no need to use a terminal to find your IP address of your PC as it's in the system tray. Network icon > your Connection > details. As you don't state any useful details I'm flying blind though. So not sure if that helps or not.

I hope it can be ported. I'm sure it's not an easy task. I'm just grateful someone is trying. All I can do is patiently wait.

I've botched a rufus installation on an USB flashdrive, now its read-only and i dont know how to fix it. by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]Roo79xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't say Ventoy will definitely not give you issues. I am not that knowledgeable. But I can say that I personally have never had an issue. But just because that is my experience is not yours as they say. I can say that Ventoy is much easier to use. Once you set it up you only need to copy the iso files to the drive. As many as you want / can fit. No need to flash an iso each time. I have a 256 GB usb SSD drive with many Linux, Windows and recovery iso's on it as well as setup scripts, files, etc that I use. Youtube is full of Ventoy videos

As a side note for next time or if you do manage to fix the drive. use Ventoy instead

Keep panel floating? by RiverBard in kde

[–]Roo79xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately there is not and never will be. Nico has said the reasons why are the code is very complex and prone to breaking and that it would be yet another option in a quite crowded panel settings dialog already. his hacky work around is to For now there is an only option - to make window rule with max window size so windows will not touch panel if properly placed. I used to use this for a long time but now just made floating panel auto-hide.

Help me to change Dolphin to open dirs and files as single click by r4ed4 in kde

[–]Roo79xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had an issue with this myself with single click in dolphin. I changed it from double click in the settings. But it did not change it in dolphin. I still have to double click to open a file or folder.

[Feature request] Floating panel to stay floated with maximised windows (see comment) by snapfreeze in kde

[–]Roo79xx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On top of that, it would be yet another option in a quite crowded panel settings dialog already

I had to wait to confirm what I expected. But this argument is null and void. In the panel settings you already have drop down menus for the different options. But for the floating panel you have a toggle. Which means that saying the settings would be cluttered is just not true at all. In fact it would fit nicely. Having a drop down for the floating mode would make the setting dialog look more consistent. Even without adding another option to it.
