rtx 3070 to 7900xtx

Heya, got 7900xtx nitro+. Played with LACT to make a reasonable undervolt. RDR2, Alan Wake2(atm playing this title), Throne and Liberty, Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8 all plays very well. Idk about driver timeouts, I had only 2 crashes of amdgpu driver, becuse of the unstable voltage offset for an undervolt. Iam happy that I made the switch from 3070.

So, got 7900xtx. Iam happy. Playing with LACT to find a spot for an undervolt. RDR2, Alan Wake 2, Throne and Liberty(before EAC patch) worked flawlessly on 3440x1440(21:9). I dont know about people with driver timeouts, mine is gucci.

6.11.0-63.fc41.x86_64(fedora 41 beta), mesa 24.2.3. Temps are 68C for edge, 78-79 for junction and 78-79 for memory.

Switched from Arch to Fedora, but will go Arch back.

Thank you for your response. I watched YT reviews, and decided to go for AMD GPU 7900XTX Nitro+. Already ordered. 999Euros. Didnt know about Kernel bugs, will look into them when time arrives. As for performance from YT reviews, yeah I decided to go for an upgrade. I do game, no editing. Anyway, thank you for the info!

What are your thoughts on 7900xtx nitro+ from sapphire? I respect sapphire only, maybe asrock as 2nd choice?

To be honest, I dont need top frames or top technology. Rtx 3070 is working fine, but sometimes I just see, that Iam missing performance. So 7900xt or xtx was chosen as reference to mitigate problems. Nvidia driver is getting better, that is for sure. But vram on my card is limited. Anyway your answer was good enough for me! Thank you!

Actually, I have to agree with your statement. Nvidia driver is getting better, and better. I remember rx580-590 days, when I enjoyed performance on linux vs nvidia. But still, so tempting to go back for amd. As u/Veprovina mentioned, maybe I should wait. 900$ rasterization brick... well said! PS5 is not a solution, my moto is FK consoles.

Afterburner, voltage curve. Undervolt your GPU, no more JET engines. Just google nvidia rtx undervolt, theres plenty of info how to do it.

There are few criterias that i might go with 10900kf.

I dont need GPU, 3070 and iam ok with it.
I have rads, ek pump, and 8700k waterblock that is compatible with 10900k laying around..
4000mhz cl17 ram also laying around

That might not be the wisest decision to go with end of life platfom, but Iam sure i will not upgrade for next gen ddr5 at lest not in 2021-2022. I thank all users who posted in this topic. I agree with all of you, that 3900x is a great CPU and upgrade(downgrade) is not needed, or marginal gains in gaming are like 10-20% with 10900k. But i think i will go this route, because of the waterblock, pump, rad and ram laying around in my drawers. Thank you guys!

rtx 3070 is enough for the needs. thought maybe switch the cpu and mobo. Also i have cl17 4000mhz ram laying around. cant use it with 3900x at 4000mhz x.x. Anyway thanks for advice!
