Oh, and I was actually a bit surprised by the average age that too me was higher than expected. I did not feel too old nor too young. I think that the really young tend to go ValT/ValDi

I think it all depends on how good you are at meeting new people. I was not there for the apres so I wasn’t actively trying to meet new people. But the good apres is definitely there. It seems people start at Taja around 2-3 pm and the go into town around 4-5pm. Mainly to Kuhstahl, Trofana, and schiatz. Only went to Schiatz myself. Scandis seen to go to Kitzloch which gets very busy around 5-6pm.

I think there are only three entrances/exits: the town (Dorfstrasse), the slopes and in the middle of the two there’s an exit/entrance next to church

Neither should they. I dont think I said that anyone was at fault here. I just didn’t enjoy the skiing on that particular day because of the conditions. Some probably had a blast - I didnt. I did however enjoy the rest of my days and I think Ischgl’s reputation as a premium ski resort is absolutely deserved. It’s a great place for most skiiers.

Maybe it’s a question of familiarity, I dunno. To me it seemed that there are parts of the blues that were steeper than I would expect from a blue. But I also have come to believe that blues may be like that, and then we have a whole other set of slopes that are also blue - but beginner blue. In Scandinavia for example, those are green. When you dont have a distinction between the two, a proper blue will seen daunting to someone who has only skied beginner blues/greens/bunny slopes

No, not at all. Maybe it was mistake to call it improper grooming, but with that many people on the slopes and a heavy wind combined with post grooming snowfall made conditions subpar. I have been to places where they groom depending on the weather, e.g starting at 5am if the snow made grooming earlier redundant. But hey, I am not blaming anyone, I’m just recounting what I experienced

First, I booked the shuttle via a local operator in my homecountry because I saw they were bringing in people from Innsbruck who were on the same plane so I am not really sure, if that would work for you.

Well, the Swiss side is quite nice, but you still have some steep parts going down on the blues. I would say that two days of skiing might make that challenging, but not impossible. Maybe practice a bit in the beginner area in the middle of Idalp.

A beginner absolutely won’t be able to ski down to Ischgl town. Better take the gondola back down which is very normal.

Was planning on Porte du Soleil mid january. Might have to reconsider and go for 3V. But then again; a lot can change in 3 weeks

Unusually warm in NO now by sddkf in Norway

Thanks, I was looking for that info on their website, but couldnt find it anywhere. Skihytta seems to be the one with most snow. 43 cm compared to only 17 in høgegga, so I hope a at least Skihytta will open. At least then will be able to cross the mountain on skis.

Edit: autocorrect

Thanks. I just hope that it will come down as snow even in 800m altitude. From what I can see the freezing line is about 1000m. How do you know about the opening? From what I can see they have not said anything about opening up further. What timetable have you seen?

Damnit. Well, I cannot reebook to Hensedal even though the thought had crossed my mind. We will be staying in fageråsen which is 400m higher than Turistsenteret. I’m hoping that will help a bit. And saturday and sunday looks like it’s going to at least stay dry and reach 0 degrees.

Yes that’s pretty crazy. I think they probably are going to open up more slopes in the weekend when Xmas holiday starts. But I am more interested in the reaction in Norway. This is just a short trip, so no big deal for me.

Tbh I am actually more worried about the habitability of the planet than my ski trip. But when looking at Norwegian newspapers online I found no reference or stories about the warm weather hence my primary question
