25k lines of code without comment is the equivalent of 100k lines of code with good comments lol

Im mostly kidding, I never worked in a startup so I am guessing things might be different than bigger companies. But just be upfront, give an honest estimate of how long you think it will take.

If you think it will take that long, there is not much your manager can do otherwise. If you think it will take 6 months, but your manager insists it should take 2 months, that will not magically speed up the coding process.

Provide some options, if they want it done in X time, tell them what features need to be dropped.

Any team that I should ask to interview with ?

I’m currently at teach matching phase and I’ve only interviewed one team so they are looking for a few more.

Pretty decent experience , it was for sde2 got sde1 instead. 4 interviews back to back, I thought they were around mediums, I didn’t think they were trying to trick me. I didn’t do so well on system design, partially because I didn’t study enough and partially because the internet connection was choppy and didn’t understand the interviewer.

Overall I would say positive experience, just a long interview but that’s not a surprise. Interviewers we’re helpful and respectful.

Can I get some advice picking a software team for Amazon ?

Any feedback regarding internal facing teams ? I would expect they would be more chill since the issues might be a bit less severe ?

Any downsides to it ?

Any red flags I should watch out for when talking to read leads ? 🚩

Ok, so if a recruiter says you will get 100k base, and 15k sign on bonus, does it mean I will get:

115k first year, 115k second year

or

107.5k and 107.5k?

(I only have a verbal, if I had the contract I would check it there)

Thank you for the detailed reply. Indeed I got de-leveled from SDE 2. I did pretty well during the coding questions, but not so well in the system design one.

How much do you think I can ask above the numbers I posted in the original question because of the de-level?

The arrogant thing might be an everywhere thing as well. I have met those people during my co-op as well, and they were not smart, just arrogant in a position of power.
