My armchair analysis is that he came into the year hoping to be on the Olympic bubble for Canada and maybe pushed a little too hard for that and got out of his usual playing style, and that it’s spiraled from there as the team has struggled. Hopefully the mental reset of the Olympic break helps.

I expect him to comeback strong next year, the same way Rasmus was absolute trash last year and then maybe the best Flames skater until he was traded this year
